I don't know why Johnnie Cochran would have thought he had lost. I was watching on TV when the verdict was read and OJ was smirking before they read it. He looked for all the world like he knew he'd get off. Mark Fuhrman did that for him. They did say that statistically a short jury deliberation points to a guilty verdict. And I think OJ's resting face is a smirk. Kardashian seemed genuinely shocked at the verdict. I look forward to seeing how they tackle Katrina. The scope of it seems pretty overwhelming.

The previous "Trial of the Century", the Lindbergh Kidnapping, could be interesting as well. I think there was a 70's TV Miniseries about it, but that might be all.
We could be in for a "dull" award season, as Courtney B. Vance and Sarah Paulson should win every and all awards. The memories...

BUMPing because the show returns Wednesday Night with The Assassination of Gianni Versace. There's a NSFW trailer over at MyNewPlaidPants. This looks like it's going to be rather lurid and disturbing, but it was a sad, strange case. I'm wondering how much imput Donatella and family gave to this. However, Ryan Murphy has yet to steer me completely wrong (steering into insane territory sometimes), so I'm in.

I'll record it, because I can't quit Ryan Murphy, lol.

I've always been fascinated by Andrew Cunnane. I think the jury is still out on whether he was a serial killer or a spree killer. I'd say he was an opportunity killer - he killed just to get what he wanted.
I read yesterday that Darren Criss has a "star-making" performance as Cunnane. I was surprised to learn recently that he is (allegedly) straight. Shocked, I tell you.
What channel is this on? Is this an HBO thing? I may have to pay to rent it.

I've seen some really good reviews today, and it sounds like it really digs in to Cunanan and how attitudes toward gay people allowed him to get away with his crimes for so long. I'm looking forward to it.

What did you all think? I will admit upfront I know only the basic outline of the real story, but I thought the first episode was good. It has a Talented Mr. Ripley vibe. Criss had some moments that made me need to look away from the screen, which I say as a compliment.

I watched it and very much agree with The Talented Mr. Ripley vibe. It didn't grab me the way the People Vs. OJ Simpson did, but it wasn't bad. This is the first thing I've seen Darren Criss in and I was impressed. I could have done without the focus on Gianni Versace's gruesome gunshot wound to the face. It struck me as disrespectful. They're clearly trying to get across the horror of the crime, but they didn't do that to Nicole Brown or Ron Goldman last season. I don't think the Versace siblings are going to get a flattering portrayal.

He's sooooo good. Has he been doing any TV or film at all since Glee?!?
I am totally into this, and the decor of the villa = decadent. I'm also excited to see Luke Wheeler from Nashville making an appearance, which I wasn't expecting.

I watched last night and liked it a lot. Like Carolina, it didn't grab me in the same way the O.J. one did, but the opening sequence was beautifully shot (that late '90's Miami vibe seemed on point) and it definitely has my interest (I don't remember a ton about the story).
