Yeah, it was a very weak episode and it was highlighted by last week's being so strong. Apparently, not much is known about what happened in the six days the two of them were on the run together so it's a great deal of supposition. Interesting quote from the article:

I don't want to blame the victim, but since much of it was subjective to the show.... Scott made every single Horror Movie Trope possible! Not running away, starting an argument in a moving car, running straight away from a gun, not crying out for help in public spaces... Much of that did happen in real life. Versace: Why David Madson Didn't Try to Escape Andrew Cunanan. It's all so creepy and sad. ETA: I think both Carolina and I tried to link to Vanity Fair. It must be un-linkable.

The links, to the same article*, are both working for me, Ginger.
*Great minds and all that;)

I didn't dislike the episode as most as some, but agree it was a comedown after last week's standout. I know it was mostly speculation on what happened with Cunanan and Madson during that week, but I found the whole thing tragic. When he broke the glass in the men's room and then just stood looking out? I don't believe it was because he was complicit at all, rather so beaten down that escape didn't seem an option. Which, again, tragic is the only word I can think of.

I'm liking this more and more as it goes along--Darren Criss is really excellent playing a lunatic. The non-linear storytelling is working well, too.

1. I very nearly gave up on this series--it just seemed too one-note and sleazy--but I'm glad I've stuck with it thus far, because the latest episode was perhaps the best;
2. Penelope's performance seems more and more grating with each episode; and
3. I will never be able to watch the first season of Glee again. This is not necessarily a bad thing...

I feel like the show has gotten duller and duller as it has gone along, and I was REALLY into it when it started.
I thought the last episode was just repetitious and nothing really happened. I also have a bad taste in my mouth that I had to wait two weeks for it for no apparent reason.

Yeah, I think it was a mistake doing this in reverse chronological...

Yeah, I think it was a mistake doing this in reverse chronological... There are definitely some big problems with it. Doing four grisly suspense episodes followed by four episodes of backstory filler is taking the excitement level way down. Ultimately, this series feels like it should be 6-7 episodes max, and they are stretching it out to 9.

I'm actually liking the non-linear story-telling device. I think if it was told straight-forward, I would've gotten bored by episode 2. And maybe it helps that I had pretty much zero knowledge of this case--I remember when Versace was murdered and that AC killed himself, but that was it.
This isn't The People vs OJ level by any means, but it's a solid B for me.
