Thread revival: Has anyone ever had a grits or cornmeal pie? I found a recipe for one that has a brown sugar/egg mix, and it sounds sort of like the offspring of a union between a pecan pie and a chess pie.
Also, pie in general.

I have not but I'm intrigued. Ever since I had my first sweet polenta cake I've been down with corn as a dessert.

Ooh...I would be interested in recipe. I love grits in any form, but have never had it in a pie.

on the subject of of pie, I am craving Saskatoon pie. My mom used to pick them from the wild every year and canned dozens of jars. This pie was a holiday mainstay. I haven't had one in years and hope finding some of these berries won't be difficult.

Ok, so if a recipe calls for “1 cup instant grits, cooked according to package directions” is that 1 cup dry grain before cooking or 1 cup of a prepared product? Because the grits pie did not turn out how I thought and I’m pretty sure there was a misunderstanding.
LAX, I’ve never had a Saskatoon! What do they taste like?

I would assume one cup dry, but that direction is fuzzy.

OK, thanks. I thought I was on glue. The pie turned out pretty...not great, and there was far too much filling, which was my first clue that something went amiss.

Our family’s schedule is insane at holidays. Too many people in Medicine that can’t get days off.
I was in Tennessee this weekend, so missed Thanksgiving with the whole family in Saturday (will be having sandwiches w/ Dad on Thurs, and a huge spread Thursday night with “adopted” family).
Traffic made a pecan pie to take Saturday, and saved me a piece. I ate it last night. Now I want more of her pecan pie, and there isn’t any left.
*sniff*

No, but I would totally try it. This might be something I need to copy. Good luck, report back!
