If it weren't for Anna and the children getting hurt I'd be holding my sides laughing. There is absolutely no way JimBob and Michelle can try to sugar coat this. No way they can claim that Josh is rehabbed or whatever. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

It is exactly this vague, esoteric writing that made me really despise my Bible as literature class in college. I don't have a Bible near by and currently have limited internet via data plan (FU CenturyLink!), so can someone please give a bit of context to this quote. I'm inferring it as a "die and go to hell, sinner" message but perhaps that is wishful thinking on my part.

Not sure what this means regarding Jill and Derick's feelings towards Josh, but it certainly means something. Would it kill these people to express their opinions using their own words in modern day English? They seem to filter every important opinion and decision in life through what others have allegedly said and thought thousands of years ago. I get using religious text for inspiration and guidance, but the Duggars seem to go beyond that. It's like they are using religious text to avoid thinking for themselves. But how else would we know what fine Christians they all are? |

My interpretation of that passage is that just because we have the grace of God through forgiveness, it doesn't mean you should go out and deliberately sin, just because you are forgiven. You need to behave better. Mistakes will be made, people aren't perfect, but you should make the genuine effort not to sin.
What is sin? The best definition I have heard is that sin is an action that hurts others or yourself. I am no biblical scholar, but I do worship where the ministers have advanced degrees and study the history of the biblical period. Makes a huge difference!
