Married former model Sofia Hellqvist in Stockholm today.

I love Victoria's dress. Madeleine looks like she could pop any second.

Carl Philip is hot! Sofia's brother-in-law (?) with the man bun made me want to scream. I thought he looked scruffy but not in a good way.

Where was the King of Belgium? I know he may not have been there because he is head of state and Carl's not but the Queen was in attendance.

Also I'm a little weirded out by a princess who's bare breasts I've seen.

Yeah, it wasn't a hot mess, but it had a nouveau-riche feel. Money can't buy taste, apparently. I did like the floral design, though.

Swedish pop singers sang "Fix You" by Coldplay, a Swedish version of Rihanna's "Umbrella" and then a black gospel choir version of "Joy..." mixed in with "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" by Janet Jackson. Super weird. Most bizarre and kind of awkward royal wedding I've ever seen. Princess Estelle looked adorable. Queen Maxima looked amazing. Queen Sonja of Norway had one of the ugliest dresses I've ever seen. Sofia's dress was tasteful but the tattoo on the back of her neck made me cringe (I have lots of tattoos, I like tattoos, but body makeup would not have been amiss for at least this event).

ETA: I've still got the live feed up from Swedish television and it's weird to have cameras watching people eat dinner. I can't imagine being filmed eating at a wedding. I guess you gotta do something to earn that tiara.

Don't forget the bishop working in a couplet from "Fix You" into the homily--in English!! It's as if he wanted the world to know how ridiculous it was. I know the Finns coined secondhand embarrassment, but there was an awful lot of myötähäpeä .

And Queen Sonja's dress was a tad Loretta Lynn. It was really ugly, but everyone seemed to aggressively tasteful--Princess Martha was kind of daring in sage when almost everyone else was wearing toast, cream, and taupe--that I kind of liked it.

ETA: I ran this past my friend, who is from Finland, and she is normally way out of the loop for most things, but she knew Madeleine was not a Sofia fan, and was herself aghast at the whole deal--the popular music, the choice of bride, etc.

The wedding was a hot mess, but that's who Sofia and CP are. Victoria looked great. I think she's pregnant and will announce it soon. Madde looked amazing. Kinda surprised she didn't go into labor. Lenore and Estelle were adorable.

I will say I liked Sofia's dress from the waist up. No cone nipples like Kate's. But seeing it with the train on her wrist took a lot away from it. Very David's bridal.

I didn't watch any of the videos and didn't hear the music but just judging from the photos, this felt pretty trashy. I thought Carl had more sense, but whatevs. The bride looked smug as shit.

Very disappointed in the fashions as well. Sylvia looks ghastly, but Maxima slammed it home. Everyone else just was meh to me.
