It looked like a bird to me, too.
Babycakes, thanks for this:
There were a few moments when he had a jolie-laide situation, but they were usually in strange angles, like 2/3 profile shot from above. He also did this strangely distracting thing in his speech. I can't remember what it was, but it was like an intrusive /r/ sound, like "Warshington" or something. It wasn't very polished.

How much botox is too much botox? When you can't move your mouth and I can't understand you Carrie. That might be due to the electroconvulsive therapy she receives for her bipolar disorder. She's stated she gets the treatments every couple of weeks to "remove the cement" from her brain.

If this scene isn't already a .gif and hasn't supplanted the skittering octopus as the latest "NOPE" meme, I'm writing a strongly-worded letter to the Internet to change that.

I am definitely in the minority, but I wasn't blown away by the movie.
I teared up a few times - seeing familiar faces, the title sequence, etc. and laughed a bunch, but didn't really feel much for the new film.
Things I liked: Rey, bb-8 and Chewie (I'm not sure why but he was great in all of his scenes). The rest felt like a re-tread (too many callbacks, and actual recycled plot), and while I usually adore John Williams' scores, I wasn't feeling it.
But it wasn't the worst movie I saw this year - Spectre and Tomorrowland top that list! lol

Oh man, I loved it. Love. I am in the camp that it was superior to any of the previous films. To me the acting, dialogue, and directing were all better than A New Hope (no offense to Mr. Lucas, who came up with an amazing journey story, and will always deserve all the credit in the world for creating this franchise).
We saw it in 3D as soon as it came out. And admittedly, the nostalgia hit me hard because my Kindergartener found it to be just amazing, magical, perfect, basically All The Things. He loves Rey and thinks she is the best thing EVAR. He plays Star Wars 24/7, takes apart the living-room furniture to recreate scenes from the movie, creates elaborate Star Wars Lego set ups and plays for hours, talks nonstop about it. His dad just took him again last night as a reward for a good week. He is essentially me, of 30 years ago, and it makes my heart happy. To me that's the best part.
I read something today that Disney is really going to be crankin' out the movies - 9 scheduled in 7 years, is that right? Damn!

So apparently George Lucas is bitter, table for one over the new Star Wars, and compared Disney to "White Slavers". Get over yourself George. You got 4-billion for your troubles.
I think he's genuinely butt hurt this film was more warmly received with critics and fans.

I wonder if Disney would ever consider some of the characters or storylines from the expanded universe? A lot of fans love those books. As for George Lucas, talk about seller's regret but you sold out deal with it.

I think he's genuinely butt hurt this film was more warmly received with critics and fans. Yeah, he clearly needs to take his money and take a seat. He's whining about the white slavers now, but he certainly wasn't when he signed on the dotted line, so I agree that this is more a reaction to the overwhelmingly positive response to the movie. He can't just gracefully accept his position in history as the man who created this beloved universe and step back. He's gotta dwell on the fact that he produced some shitty movies no one likes and gets all bitter when someone else enters his universe and does a better job.

I wondered what Lucas thought about the new movie. It must really sting the pride for almost every positive review to mention how crappy the last trilogy was.
