I am excited about this movie despite not knowing what to expect. I am hopeful J.J. Abrams does a good job. I can't remember the last time I pre purchased movie tickets weeks in advance of a release. Anyone else excited to see the new movie?
ETA to update the subject since Rogue One has come out.

I bought tickets for MMS & me last ast night for the Sunday matinee during opening weekend. (Couldn't get a babysitter earlier than that!)
I'm hopeful for this movie. I am not a fan of the three prequels, but I loved the three originals. I remember going with my family when I was six-years-old to see Return of the Jedi and how entranced I was by the story on the screen. I would love to see the franchise get back to its roots and be awesome again.

I'm trying not to let my expectations get too high, but it's hard. The theater is gonna go apeshit as soon as Han Solo appears.
Are there any reviews out yet?

Dec 16th apparently. I am trying to keep my expectations in check as well, and speaking of Han Solo, Harrison has been promoting the crap out of this movie. I hope that means it is a good omen.

My ticket is at 11:00 AM Saturday morning....I can't WAIT!
I didn't see the prequels in the theater, actually at home while sick. I didn't hate them as much as everyone seemed too, I still prefer the orginal trio though.

We have tickets for Friday night. My boyfriend is so excited he can hardly contain himself. I'm cautiously optimistic but I really fear that the only good parts will be the ones with the original cast. Not sold on the rest of the cast yet. I also really believe the (not a spoiler but using spoiler font cause according to my friend this plot point is too traumatic to think about) {Spoiler}Spoiler Spoiler speculation that Han is going to bite it. I'm pretty sure that's the only way they could convince Harrison to come back for another one. It's what he wanted in Empire afterall. This way he's clear of the franchise and never has to do another one (which Disney would be all to happy to milk).
I'm still so put off by how terrible the prequels were that I'm trying not to get my hopes up about these.

Just purchased tickets for noon on Saturday for myself, mrvetes and kids. Going to surprise them that morning with the news that we are going. They will lose their minds.

jynni - I strongly suspect you are correct.
The premiere is tonight, so someone will probably start spilling spoilers on twitter. The critics get to see it tomorrow and can post their reviews at midnight PST.
