We bought our tickets weeks ago! We are going on Sunday because I don't want to face the crowds any earlier. I love that our regular theater has reserved seating (and we can order food and beverages).
We have recently re watched all the movies in episode order. The first time we watched with the kids we watched 4-6 then 1-3. There are parts of the prequels I enjoy, mostly the Obi Wan Kenobi stuff.
Even if the new movie doesn't meet my expectations I know my kids will love it. Just getting to experience it with them is worth it.

I think it will be good. JJ did a good job with Star Trek by all accounts and he was more of a Star Wars fan.

It's sitting at 97% "Fresh" at Rotten Tomatoes, so the critics seem to like it.

Yeah, this is getting overwhelmingly positive reviews. Sounds like there a few minor quibbles but overall is being very well received.

The AV Club's review does not have any real spoilers, and they gave it a B. Basically they say JJ Abrams does a good job of paying homage to the original trilogy while getting rid of everything people hated about the prequels. Sounds good to me!

True confession time: I've never seen the original trilogy. I know what's what, and who's who, mostly from pop culture. Back in '97 however, I was dragged into the hype, and went to see Phantom Menace with some friends. It was an awkward, and silent ride back home. Even without seeing the source material, I knew something was very wrong, but that I'd also just watched a terrible movie. The horrid acting, nonsensical plot, Jar Jar Binks, the racist character accents... I was thoroughly off Star Wars. But I have to admit, the promos for TFA, and John Boyega's enthusiasm and charm have made me interested in seeing the new one. I probably won't go the first week, but I pretty sure I will see TFA before it leaves the theaters. Also, I was reading about something called the "machete order". That's the non official, supposedly best way, to watch Star Wars. You're supposed to watch 4,5,2,3,6. This guy came up with the notion that watching in that order retains the suspense, twists, and let's you avoid most of the horror of the prequels, without losing any of the story. It's a very interesting read.

I haven't read any reviews but it's at 97% on RT. That's enough for me. I'll see it a few days after it comes out. And just because I'm still bitter table for one because of "Menace to my Sanity", I'm so happy JJ's getting great reviews. Suck it George/Jar-Jar.* I hope it hurts a little bit seeing the franchise do well without you and your arrogance.
*I know I need to let it go....

I don't care but not cool. People suck.
