I personally think any actor trying to follow in Harrison Ford’s footsteps was being set up for failure. It’s hard to recreate natural charisma like that.

Emilia Clarke’s character looks terrible. I know nothing about her, but I hate her 80s teen rom-com hair. It doesn’t say “Star Wars” to me. Woody Harrelson, who is a good actor, takes me right out of it too.

But I hope it turns out good. There’s a lot of potential for fun.

Yeah, I actually really like the cast for Solo, and I like Ron Howard, but this does not look good.

That's it exactly. They did good with Donald Glover because he has natural charisma much like Billy Dee Williams, but Alden Ehrenreich just isn't going to cut it. He's a few inches shorter than Harrison Ford for one thing.

Taron Egerton. The Kingsman movies are not perfect, but I will watch every damn second of them that he's onscreen. He'd certainly do a better job than the guy they went with. Anthony Ingruber also looks and sounds just like Harrison Ford (and played a younger version of him in a Blake Lively movie) but he doesn't have the onscreen charisma of Taron.

I just re-watched Apollo 13 over the weekend, and damn, Ron Howard knows how to make a movie. If anyone could recover this, it's him, and I hope it's not a complete mess just because I do really like him.

I mean, I guess I'll watch Solo, but I'm not excited about it.

Yes to Taron Egerton. I know he was in the running for it and I was very disappointed when he didn’t get it, I thought he was the best option by far out of the ones I heard of.

Solo looks like Ocean's Eleven in Space. And so very agreed about young Han having zero natural charisma. Did they learn nothing from Hayden Christensen? When you choose someone for looks over ability why expect anything but flat lame delivery.

I watched the last Jedi and cried and cried. I’m not hugely into Star Wars but I just got so sad about Carrie Fisher. The women in the movie just kept saving everyone didn’t they?

Huh. He looks like a mini Benicio Del Toro in the style of Bill Hader. What a weird mix.

An unidentified actor talks to Vulture about the behind-the-scenes drama on Solo: A Star Wars Story. I can't say I find much of this surprising but it's still an entertaining gossipy read. All the credit in the world to Ron Howard if he's able to pull a halfway decent movie out of his hat on this one.
