The ongoing hatred and racism towards Kelly, and the general meanness and bullying in the SW universe just confirm everything girls knew about boys all along; when they're mean to you, it DOES NOT mean they like you, it means they hate you, they want to hurt you, and they are awful people.
And just to add; I LOVED The Last Jedi, and bawled my face off at every Leia scene.

I liked TLJ a lot, it wasn't perfect, but again it went in a lot of directions that previous films hadn't and that is not a bad thing. I'm sorry Kelly is getting attacked.

I feel so bad for Kelly because she was so clearly thrilled to be a part of Star Wars (I saw some interview with her where she teared up while she thanked Rian Johnson for the opportunity). Now some assholes have ruined it for her.
And this just proves that the a-holes screaming about how TLJ ruined Star Wars weren’t actually mad at the writing (Kelly didn’t write the movie), but the fact that women and POC are playing more prominent roles (that’s Kelly’s only “sin” here - she’s female and Asian. She didn’t write the movie, she didn’t create her character).
Daisy Ridley left social media a while ago because she too got sick of the constant abuse. Bummed me out because I enjoyed the workout stuff she would post on Instagram.
TLJ is a different movie and took some getting used to for me. I liked it a lot better on the second viewing than the first. I get what Rian Johnson was trying to do, and I think it largely works (though some things like the detour to the casino planet didn’t add much).
As for why Solo isn’t doing so hot, I think it is a combo of the bad press before the movie came out, and just...Star Wars saturation. It’s like we’ve got a new damn SW movie every time you turn around. Pizza and cake is fun and something to get excited about, but if your mom serves it every day, you get burned out on it. I think it is far more to do with that than the asshole fanboys (who are really only a small portion of the audience). I haven’t seen it not because I hated any movie before it, but because I feel like I can’t keep up.

That's exactly why I haven't seen it, there's just too much. I don't watch the animated series (name??), I don't watch or listen to podcasts, I just can't keep up. I had no idea Daisy had left social media as well, that's awful.

The problems I had with TLJ had nothing to do with Kelly Marie Tran. To reiterate - it's just a movie.

The Star Wars series is like a lot of other film series, mostly good and a few not as good. TLJ tried too much to do too many things with too many characters and it ended up with everyone's character being written not so great. So there you go I liked TFA, didn't love TLJ and have liked both spinoff anthologies. Looking forward to Star Wars IX.

This is an interesting deep dive on why the fanboys hate The Last Jedi so much. He’s specifically talking about the a-holes who attack Kelly Marie Tran and want to remake the movie, not those who just thought it was boring/didn’t like the story (he acknowledges in the video that it isn’t a perfect movie). It actually made me appreciate the movie more. And this guy does all sorts of deep dives on masculinity in pop culture that are usually interesting (and not preachy or angry).

I don't understand these people that just can't keep life in perspective. It is a movie and nothing more it is not going to change your life. I was sort of meh on TLJ but it doesn't mean I scream racist shit at people it just means I don't watch it again.
