I hope in a few years they reveal what the plan was before Carrie Fisher passed away. I kind of doubt it would be more coherent, but that aspect surely didn’t help.

After I saw the movie last weekend, I was wondering the same thing. I assume the BIG Kylo Ren scene was supposed to be with Carrie. I would have loved to seen Carrie in a big light saber duel! It’s such a shame-Carrie Fisher was such a talented actress, but was always a supporting player. It would have been wonderful to see her as a featured player.

I think Han Solo wasn't supposed to be there at all, but they kind of had to have him there to have that discussion with Kylo/Ben (and Harrison Ford did them a solid by agreeing to do it probably out of respect for Carrie.) It was already established in TLJ that astral projecting is very taxing on a Jedi and likely fatal, and it probably would've killed Leia. She was probably still meant to die but it would've been more meaningful if Carrie Fisher had been alive to film the scenes.

Back to an earlier Star Wars movie, I tried to watch Solo over New Year's. I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. I can see why it failed, honestly. Everything from the cheesy Madame Proxima puppet, to the non-car chase through non-San Francisco in the rain, to the girlfriend left behind At The Last Minute. It was cliched and awful. It didn't get Solo's character right, IMO. It retconned him. The Solo of the first movie was a scuzz who becomes likeable. This Solo didn't have that mean, snarly edge. He was just another odds-against-him heroic male.

None of the last three had JarJar Binks. They win. Carry on with philosophical discussion. My stage manager will berate me, on y’all’s behalf, as we drive to Chicago, for my shallow assessment of the majesty of that galaxy far, far away. In my inner world, there is no second trilogy.

I'm totally ambivalent about this one. Just did not grab me in any way. Honestly if these movies had validated the "Darth JarJar" theory I think I would have forgiven EVERYTHING else. “Darth Jar Jar” might be a candidate for a new name for Trump! That is a perfect new name for The Orange One. Perfect.

I kinda hated it. I just thought it was kinda dumb and didn't make much sense. Also, it could have being the cinema I saw it in, which has really run down and felt abandoned, but the movie seemed so dark visually, to the point where I couldn't really see what has going on at times which annoyed me.
The acting was great though, and the unexpected cameo totally made me cry. I also liked all the droids, especially the newest one.

I liked Solo and didn’t like TLJ. I know I am in the minority.

I liked Solo AND TLJ. Pretty sure I’m the cheese that stands alone on that one.

I liked Solo more than I expected to. The lead actor acquitted himself surprisingly well as young Han Solo and Woody Harrelson was great.
