Kylo Ren seemed to be modeled after Anakin with the emo-ness and the flyaway hair. It was all very reminiscent of young Anakin to me. I liked that he wasn't shown to be omnipotent, though. While he inspired fear, General Hux wasn't as nearly impressed or fearful of him as Vader's contemporaries were shown to be of him. Which is probably the point.

Seriously, I've never given Oscar Isaac a second thought, and now I'm like "more please!!" Also, the I just read that Daniel Craig had a cameo in the movie! {Spoiler}He was the Storm Trooper that Rey uses the force on to get him to let her go. "I will drop my weapon". I loved it. I was worried that it would be all hype, but honestly, it was great. A lot of "holy crap" moments, I almost started crying when I saw "Lucas Film" and then the sprawl. When Han and Chewie (finally) came on screen I was so happy. Oh, and the droid's "thumbs up" was hilarious. I have no idea who Adam Driver is, but he was a great villian. I actually appreciated the temper tantrums, because they felt realistic to the character and his background. While the other young General wasn't so conflicted, and therefore was much more at ease with everything he was doing. Having the two characters on the same side, so contrast one another, was a smart choice.

My friend, who is a Girls fan, said that while watching TFA, all she could think about was all the weird shit that Driver said on Girls. Apparently, his character was into some freaky deaky stuff. I also think that Driver is the villain that Hayden Christensen was supposed to be. I agree with Angelaudie that better writing and acting make all of the difference. Plus, Driver just seemed to have that star-making charisma. JJ's casting was on point, everyone was pitch perfect.

When can we start discussing plot? I looked through the forum guidelines but did not see a definitive answer. I definitely do not want to spoil it for anyone.

Glorious!! So HAPPY for the overall experience. And yeah, I got weepy at the opening credits but I always do. Clapped for every character and BAWLED just upon the sight of the Falcon. Who knew I had that much residual affection for a ship!
But it was perfect. Star Wars has completely been redeemed in my heart.
Just as an example, I was overly excited about Phantom Menace back in the day. That turned out to be so wrong headed and worst of all DULL that I went to the bathroom twice and didn't feel like I missed a thing. This movie? My Godson dropped his Junior Mints and I bent down to pick them up and instantly mourned the few seconds my eyes weren't on the screen. That's how awesome this one was!!!
I'll be humming the theme the rest of the night!!!

I saw it last night and LOVED it. It had a nice sense of passing the baton. Finn and Rey are perfect successors to Luke, Han, and Leia. Haven't seen enough of Poe to have an opinion of him. Finn and Rey carried the movie for the most part.
Everyone in the audience cheered at the opening crawl. It was really heartwarming.
This is how Star Wars should be, IMO.

When can we start discussing plot? I looked through the forum guidelines but did not see a definitive answer. I definitely do not want to spoil it for anyone. Based on my understanding of the rules we should put major plot points in spoiler tags at this time. Ok, I'll start with the spoilerly stuff! I definitely agree Kylo Ren was modeled after Anakin. The character is obsessed with Vadar after all (don't think that needs to be spoiler tagged since TPTB have publicly stated that). The kicker with Kylo is {Spoiler}he's Han and Leia's son and therefore Vadar's grandson. But, unlike Anakin, I'm actually interested in learning more about Kylo. We know a little bit about his background but I'm interested in learning more and I imagine we will in the upcoming films. The big questions for me is {Spoiler}how did Kylo come to see Vadar as anything but a cautionary tale? How did Snoke get into his head and convince him to turn against his own family? Why is most of Kylo's anger aimed at Han? He never once mentioned Leia. One thing I thought was well done was giving the new characters things in common with the trio but not to the point you felt "Oh so and so is the new Luke/Han/Leia!" For example, Rey definitely has a lot in common with A New Hope's Luke but I never once felt "Oh she's supposed to fill Luke's void". Sure she's a dreamer like young Luke was but she's also a lot tougher Luke started out as. She can handle herself and is a lot tougher than Luke was in A New Hope. Poe (AND YES MORE POE PLEASE!) and Finn both share qualities with Han but neither feels like they are supposed to be the new Han. Oh and Rey {Spoiler}Mechanically inclined? A natural pilot? Strong with the force? She's totally a Skywalker! As soon as {Spoiler}Han approached Kylo I knew Han was a dead man. Actually I knew before the movie began. Harrison Ford was way too happy promoting this movie. I know there have been some complaints about the lack of epic light saber duels but I was fine with that. The characters that were wielding light sabers either had never used one before or had never really had to fight someone with one before. I'm sure they will make up for that in the upcoming films. Finally, the ending was beautifully done. {Spoiler}Mark Hamill may have only been on a screen for a few seconds but damn if it wasn't powerful seeing him again!

I LOVED it. Just got back from seeing it. It was everything that I wanted it to be that I was afraid that it wouldn't be. Thank you JJ.
