There was also Yvette, the woman at the pool and the mom of Randall's only friends. She was even in photos that Randall has in his home. I hope we see her at the funeral.

Wonderful ep! I cried the whole time, but the Tess twist really did me in. So beautiful

When I see Jack with Kate in flashbacks, their bond is so well portrayed. But I just can't see that bond with adult Kate. The adult Kate scenes with her remembering her dad or dealing with her grief do not get to me the way Randall's or Kevin's do. I don't know if it's the writing or the actress, but the adult Kate scenes with the videotape felt flat to me, and they really shouldn't because he was closest with Kate.

Mandy Moore was great.

I kind of agree, but this past episode I finally felt it, thought Chrissy Metz did a great job. I also thought the actress who plays teen Kate conveyed terror at being trapped in a fire perfectly. Pretty sure hysterical would be my go-to emotion, too.

I haven't been in a relationship in a long, long, long, (counts fingers and toes) long, long time, and certainly far from marriage, but *small voice* wouldn't it get resentful to always be one upped on the gift giving? Am I too cynical in my bitter singledom?

PerfectJack is a little too perfect, yes. I like the character (and am surprised at how I've warmed to Milo after side-eyeing him for years for his alleged asshole behavior to Alexis Bledel during Gilmore Girls filming), but when episodes are heavy on the "Jack is the best person ever" narrative I start to zone out.

I did LOVE the Randall/Kate scenes last night. More of those, please. Also, lol at "can I call you Randy?/No."
