I’m really annoyed with, what I felt like, Toby’s character assassination. Although neither of them were wrong in their fights, Toby would at least acknowledge Kate’s POV, but Kate just seemed to never consider any of Toby’s very sensible plans. I also wish they just chose some random guy for Kate to marry and not Phillip. He was a jerk and never got redeemed in my eyes.
As for Kevin and Sophie, ugh. Although I like them together, but man, those two are just dysfunctional together. At least I have an easier time seeing some character growth in Kevin and how maybe this time, it will be different.
I love Randall and Beth. That is all.
I didn't mind Kevin winding up with Sophie because the show is ending and of all the options, they had the most history. IRL, it might not be the healthiest relationship, but for 2 fictional characters on a show that was wrapping up in a handful of episodes, it made the most sense.
I was surprised at how much I liked the Toby/Kate focus even though it ended with them breaking up, that was some of the most relatable content they've had in awhile. The Miguel episode was also really touching, but too close to home for me (with regard to aging parents and all the attendant struggles that come with that). Also, it was like the show finally convinced everyone that Miguel was great for Rebecca only to have the final episode remind us of how much meaningful time she had with Jack. I guess I need my tv shows to have that One True Love pairing and I can't reconcile anything else, lol.
I didn't love the ending as much as I think I would have if it had come earlier. They had so much heart-tugging content in the earlier seasons and then there were a couple of meandering seasons where the focus got pulled in a million different directions and it lost me a bit.
But the final wrap up with some revisiting of the stuff that I loved from the earlier seasons, like the young Big 3 years and the scene of them together on the porch felt more like the old show and it was nice. It's just that for me personally, I'd rather that they only did like 4 season and tightened the focus instead of going 6 and using half the later season shows to feature loosely related storylines and unfamiliar characters who didn't end up being that significant.
