I don't know that much about the history of the Vietnam War, so all the stuff about the draft was horribly enlightening about what a stressful period that was. I absolutely would have been a draft dodger, so I take back any time I used that phrase as an insult.

I didn’t realize they did the draft lottery live on TV like that. Yikes. Also, I was watching the show on October 18 on my dvr. So weird.

Anyway, I was wondering if I missed any connection about Jack’s arthymia (sp?) that should’ve prevented him from going to Vietnam be tied to the reason he died after the fire. Didn’t his heart give out after he made it to the hospital?

Yup. They didn't spell it out as such at the hospital, aside from the dreaded "Widowmaker" heart attack, but my dad and ex both have arrhythmia and it sure as hell wouldn't have helped matters. Shudder.

ETA: Also, can we please get the hell over "Jack was a saint!" storyline, because I am so tired of all this preciousness when it comes to him. It's driving me nuts.

This was the only scene in the entire episode that intrigued/touched me. The actress playing Tess really hit vulnerable notes when she was talking to Kate.

Aside from that, the show has felt a little flat to me this season. I still like it, but it's not grabbing me the way the first two years did. Though I did want to smack Miguel's son last night with his totally incorrect and nasty comment about Rebecca "stealing" his dad away from his mom. You're a 40-year-old man and you're still so bitter that you snipe out something that inappropriate at the Thanksgiving table? Go to your room!

The amount of space that Jack Pearson has in the marriage of Kate and Toby is ridiculous.

Tess’s coming out scene had me in tears. What a night for Beth and Randall!

And speaking of gender reveal nonsense (actually, it's sex reveal, but I guess that doesn't sound proper to Instagram mommies), doesn't matter if it's pink or blue, or omg one of each, they always squeal and cheer like it's just so amazing. I don't get it.

Anyone still watching this? I'm struggling to maintain interest, partially because it doesn't seem to be on regularly and partially because it feels more segmented than ever. Even when I kind of enjoy a storyline, it feels like a standalone.

I haven't watched since the first few episodes of this season. My hope is, since the network gave a definitive answer that the show will only be up to season 5, that the storylines will be tighter like in Season 1.

I will go back to watching this show once all the episodes are out for this season. I don't like the constant breaks between episodes (like you mentioned).
