Can you leave today? The Weather Channel is using the word "devastation" and my local meteorologist is saying "worst case scenario," so it seems like travel in the region is going to be delayed, to say the least.

You Texans/Gulf people, be as safe as possible! It's no joke. Make sure your pets are safe too!

It's bright and clear in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle (North Seattle). We're supposed to get 92%. It's already a little shadowy. You live in Wedgwood?😃 I grew up in Maple Leaf!

Gasoline prices are going to go up (and in some places have already started to go up) because of the anticipated disruption to supply lines.

I live in Austin but am currently in New Orleans on vacation. We are supposed to fly home tomorrow around noon, and I have no idea if we will actually be able to do so. Suekel, we have friends who had to detour through NOLA to take their daughter to her new college in St. Louis. They're staying put until they can get a better idea of the safest path--but Harvey is supposed to loop around and start heading back toward Louisiana/east Texas in the next 48 hours. My advice: Plenty of hurricanes (the drink, not the weather event) and beignets while you're waiting. Have some shrimp etouffee for me and take your time getting home as safely as possible.

Despite numerous efforts from my mom, Bro1, and my SIL's dad to get information on emergency plans from Bro2 and SIL (and their two kids) in Houston, they did not return phone calls all week. Finally heard from Bro2 this morning--six inches of water in their house near Rice University, they were staying with neighbors with a raised house and a second floor, SIL's sister (one of my besties through high school) and her family were safe and dry half a mile away, but no way in or out of Bro2's neighborhood without a boat.
Mom tried repeatedly to connect with Bro2 over the past week to make sure they knew that they were welcome to hunker down at Mom's or at SIL's dad's here in Austin, and spent last night worried sick about them all. Bro1 and I haven't talked yet, but I think we're both heading for a Come To Jesus talk with Bro2 about ignoring Mom and leaving us to deal with her growing anxiety. SIL's dad (longtime family doctor and friend through SIL's mom, who was a saint) is an overbearing and clueless PITA, and they don't return his calls, either--but Bro1 and I have our own families to deal with, and Bro1 sold his house and moved in with Mom when my dad died, just so we wouldn't worry so much about her living alone with her relatively minor, but increasingly apparent frailties. Honestly, returning phone calls would make a HUGE difference in her peace of mind (and our stress levels).

Yes, people who won't return a phone call or text that specifically says 'please call me!' push all my buttons.

Houston looks terrifying right now. I hope everyone gets to safety. Not for nothing - Obama had put in an executive order that said infrastructure needs to be flood-proofed. Trump reversed the order about a week ago. I hope there is enough personnel and organization to get help to people.
