It was a chilly 89 degrees here in Los Angeles today. We here feel for you all.... sorry, must run. I'm expected at the beach bar.

Almost 60 early this week with an actual fire warning because of the wind and dry conditions. That never happens. This morning there was a windchill of 10 in Chicagoland. We have had absolutely no measurable snow all year and 70s in February. Poor SK1 and I are already suffering through allergies. Ugh.
I'm thinking this warm-frigid-warm weather pattern is going to destroy the flowers. April showers might bring May flowers, what does summertime in February bring? Nothing good.

Our peaches bloomed in February (usually March) and the blueberries are starting now (usually March/April). The problem isn't just that the early warmth promoted unseasonal blooming, it's that the pollinators weren't out to service the blooms. I saw very few bees on the peaches. Usually queens start laying in late winter so the first of the new broods emerge in late March/April.

Winters here are usually mild compared to a New England winter, but it's not usually this mild. I haven't needed a heavy coat all winter and have been fine with my fleece jacket and an extra layer. The daffodils and cherry blossoms are already blooming about a month early.
We were supposed to get snow today and it was probably going to melt the next day, but now it looks like the snow will bypass us. Although it's gotten colder, I think the daffodils and cherry blossoms will be okay.
I don't even want to think about how bad the bugs and mosquitoes will be this summer.
But climate change isn't real. It's a figment of our liberal imagination.

I don't even want to think about how bad the bugs and mosquitoes will be this summer. No kidding. Minnesota is expected to have a huge tick problem this year, and the ticks carry Lyme disease. The lakes in Minneapolis have iced out already. The winter sports industry must be broke.

Here in Ontario we went from +16 to -20 in the space of a week. This is throwing me off. I feel like spring is right around the corner but it also possible we have 2 more months of winter!!
I become a bit of a weather nut this time of year. I have an hour each way commute to work each day and it can be a blizzard where I live and sunny with no snow where I work. I have coworkers who live close to work and come in talking about how nice their commute was whereas I'm all, I nearly died on the way here!

We haven't gotten nearly as much snow up here as we usually get which is a bad thing when it comes to the drought we've been dealing with. Last summer it hardly rained at all, and I think we got more super hot days then we usually do. We had a lot of wildfire watches and warnings.

Rain today, I can't see the bit of mountains I can usually see but I do see shiny roof tiles. I'd rather have this than snow.

I am such a weather junkie. Who here has the Dark Sky app? It is not as accurate as I had hoped. I used to have it but it took up too much space on my iPhone. We've had an extremely mild winter in the Detroit area. TTMR and I went on a cruise in February during a week when Detroit had 60 and 70 degree temps. What's the point of going to the Caribbean in February if you can't be smug about the temperature to the people freezing back home?
