We had snow showers this morning, but it melted away by lunch, so I won't complain. I will voice some concern however, over the freeze warning for tomorrow morning because I drive on a highway by a lake where there are no guard rails. If you slide off the road, you're going right into the lake, no question. There have been times when it was really windy and it shifted my car a bit and there was a moment of panic. I know a few people who drive this stretch of the road and they've shared similar concerns. Even on a dry, sunshine-y day, I still worry about that pagrt of the road because there's no shoulder. There's just a few feet of a 45 degree angle between the road and the lake. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I hope you have that tool Mulva recommended to me that can cut your seatbelt and break out your window. I'd also have a scuba tank and mask riding shotgun every time I traveled that road. JFC! On-topic: My area received 6" of snow Sunday night into Monday morning, and now meteorologists are predicting 60 degree highs starting Thursday and into the weekend. Mother Nature has become a fickle bitch this season.

I second the AAAAHHHHHHHHHH. That is my fear.
When we were teens learning to drive, every time my bestie and her mom would drive over a bridge close to our houses, her mom would roll down all the windows in case they careened over the side. I still laugh when I go home and drive over that bridge. Of course, Bestie was kinda a shit driver, so I don't exactly blame her.
As for weather, after our non-winter in Alabama, it has turned bitterly cold and grey for spring break. We have been hibernating this week with all of our usual outdoor spring break staycation plans shelved. But it looks like we will see the 60s again this weekend. I just wanted one snow this year, is that so much to ask?

You know that when you remove the car head rest (i think most have long leg type bits) you can use those leg parts to smash a window if you ever need too. Hopefully no one ever will. I can't remember where I read that. Stay safe in crazy weather folks x
That warm orange yellow thing is back over here again it may even stay for the weekend, it might be our 'summer'

I learned this one on MythBusters: if your car does wind up in the water, wait until the car completely fills up with water before you try to open the window or the door. It's something to do with pressure equalization.
The sidewalks and the road were completely covered with ice this morning thanks to the partial melt/rain/re-freeze. One of my office mates fell and cut her forehead and had to get four stitches.

One of my office mates fell and cut her forehead and had to get four stitches. I heard of a person who did the (terrifying) right thing and let the car fill up with water before trying to open the door. She forgot to take off her seatbelt and got all tangled and drowned. So there you go. My elderly parents' driveway is a skating rink because of the rain that froze and I'm terrified of one of them slipping and falling down. They have about 100 feet of driveway that they need to walk in order to get from the house to the garage. I told them this morning to wait until I get home from work and I will drive them over to their garage door to get their car out. They also have a dog that my dad insists upon walking every 2 hours and there's nothing I can do about that. I volunteered to put some salt down near the door but my dad thinks salt hurts the little doggy's feet.

Ginger, have your dad get some Muttluks for the little doggy. They work. We used them for our dog when her paws cracked and bled from the icy pavement when we visited Utah one winter. She’s a California girl and her tender paws couldn’t handle the drier climate and icy cold. (Plus, it’s fun to see them walk in them for the first time )

They were basically little unflated balloons that you put the paws in. One attempt to put them on and I realized it would never, ever work. He's a pretty docile dog, but he was going to take off both of my hands before he'd let me get one of those on his feet. My dad just sent me an email that he and my mom have already gone "in and out of the garage several times today". Great.

Here in south east Quebec it's still snowing and blowing. We've gotten over two feet of snow. I'm not going anywhere for a couple of days.

I think most dogs will wonder what the hell you’re doing when you first put them on. Our girl is pretty strong willed and she adjusted to them. They walk a bit funny at first, but they get used to it and move on. They’re held on with a little velcro strap so they’re easy to adjust if necessary. I think they’re more practical than the little rubber balloons you bought at Petco. I’m not sure, since it’s been over 10 years, but I think I bought them at a Petco. . . or a PetSmart. One or the other. I think they’re available at many stores and I called around until I found them (this was before smart phones). Anyway, I just went to Muttluks’ website and now I wish I’d given you their link first. They have seven different models (and colors) now since I first purchased ours. Some of them are rated higher than others. I notice they now have a model called “Mud Monsters” (which look adorable) that have a tread on the bottom that should help with stability. Also, they’re made in Canada. As for your parents, I don’t think they make them in their sizes.
