Loved it, loved it loved it! The story was tweaked a bit and songs were added, but these might make it similar to the Broadway play. The cinematography was fabulous.

I am so looking forward to this. I have very warm and fuzzy feelings about the animated version.

I have a date to take MissP and my 26-year-old niece on Sunday when I get home. We have been planning to see it opening weekend since we heard about it.
My niece watched the vhs tape so many times as a child, she nearly erased it, and MissP would have done the same, but for dvd technology.
Shame neither of them fit in their Belle dresses anymore.
Bonjour!

Belle is my favorite Disney heroine and I also damn near wore out my VHS copy of the original when I was a kid. I'm simultaneously excited and worried about this one.

I brought up Emma Watson's thread because I saw this yesterday and I LOVED IT. I literally started crying happy tears when Belle started and cried til the end. She really is great as Belle. Everyone is very strong (Luke Evans as Gaston is great. Kevin Kline as Maurice was a really good choice. The only person I thought was horribly miscast was Ewan MacGregor as Lumiere. To me, he was almost distractingly bad. Other than that, costumes, set, cinematography was all amazing.
I liked all the new songs. Thought it was a beautiful way to introduce Maurice, with his little song.
Emma Thompson was great as Mrs.Potts but no one can top Angela Lansbury. Chip is still annoying as ever. Lol.
A big two thumbs up from me.

I was pretty much expecting Ewan to suck, based on his appearance on the Late Show this week. He admitted to never having seen the original and that his French accent was terrible. And this is somewhat petty of me but he also didn't know who did the voice for Lumiere in the original. It was Jerry freaking Orbach man, show some respect!

I might let Ewan slide on that. It really wasn't a "boy" movie, after all, and I still have to stop and think about Lennie Briscoe being a French candlestick...

True, but he has four daughters. I'm just kind of shocked that it didn't make it into the video rotation at Casa McGregor. Stephen Colbert was shocked too.
Anyways, at least I know to be prepared for his bad French accent.

I took my girls to see it this evening, and we all loved it! Emma Watson did a lovely job. The gentleman who played Gaston looked so familiar to me, but when I looked him up on IMDB, I didn't find any films that I have seen.

Anyways, at least I know to be prepared for his bad French accent. Even if you haven't seen it pre-hiring, wouldn't you go out and watch it to prepare? Or I don't know? Not admit that in every interview you do? It feels like a dick move or he's just trying to save face bc he knows he is garbage in it. I wish they would have hireda French actor or someone who can do a passable French accent. Doesn't Bradley Cooper sing and speak fluent French? Jean DuJardin not available?
