'non-threateningly sexless with good hair + bone structure' Did anyone else think of Lisa Simpson?

He's not inconsistent at all as a teen/early 20s idol. In their youths, Leonardo DiCaprio, Zac Efron, every boy band member ever, they were boyish, as were earlier idols like David Cassidy. And from what I've seen on Tiktok Gen Z doesn't seem to be into the big musclebound look, skinny is in for guys. K-pop singers are very popular and they've got the skinny, almost androgynous thing going on. It's just a generational thing. Also, can we please not refer to pale skin as "pasty"? I thought colorism was bad? Except pasty and pale are not interchangeable terms in the least, there is a significant distinction. I do not find pale skin unattractive in the least; Matt Dillon who I mention in the same post has extremely pale skin, and so do any number of Irish actors like Byrne or Quinn who I also like. They have pale skin that is not pasty. Timothee has pale skin that is pasty, and it’s the latter that I find unhealthy looking and unattractive (which is not “colourism” anymore than disliking Meghan Markle for her personality is racism) and not the former. True about the other examples, who also personally don’t appeal, however I would still venture that their faces are more objectively handsome and neat than TC, who reminds me of a younger version of Frank Burns from M*A*S*H, who Hawkeye and Trapper called ahem Ferret Face and which I think applies equally here. (They said it I didn’t lest that is pronounced any other kind of “ist” )

(They said it I didn’t lest that is pronounced any other kind of “ist” ) The term is always used to describe fair skinned individuals, I've never seen a deeper skintone referred to as pasty. It might not be interchangeable, but it's a pejorative term that always applies to fair skin, and I find it offensive. The word "sickly" works I believe the way you wish it to but it has no color implications. Just MHO.

Also, can we please not refer to pale skin as "pasty"? I thought colorism was bad? I think this is directed at me, so I will apologize and not do that again. (Though I have extremely pale skin, so it's probably a product of self-loathing rather than otherizing. But I hear you and will avoid.) My perplexity still stands, though.

There are others in the past that have been on the skinny and boyish side but I see none of the charm they had with Timothée. But I’m not in his demographic so whatever. But Hollywood finds someone and really forces them down the audiences throat.

He is definitely a example of younger Gen Z tastes. From what I can gleen, the Gen Z astheic is off beat. While Tim Comet seems dull to we older people, to the kids he is different but similar. He is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal (Except we all know that kids like that cereal because it's sweet and tasty), for them it's easy to see.
As for my opinion, without body shaming the kid, I wish he would down a few protein shakes a few burgers and some fries. While I do understand super skinny isn't an unusual body type for young men, he is so painful thin it hurts to look at him.
That also might be something that repells we older people. We know hugging someone so painfully skinny isn't terribly comfortable. And the only lable my rebellious brain wants to give him is, "twink", and that's really uncool of me.

He might go the way of Leo DiCaprio and turn stocky in his late 20s.
Skinny, delicate, pretty young Leo was not my type back in the day, and I feel confident saying that even if I were 20 years younger, I would not be one of the young ladies currently into Chalamet.
Unpopular opinion, but I loathed that movie Call Me By Your Name. It was a total retread of a 90s Merchant-Ivory movie like A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries - bunch of rich people summering at their European villa and talking about sophisticated things like opera. Making the central romance gay made the movie neither original nor interesting.

I am an unabashed Merchant/Ivory fan

He has that doe eyed androgynous look that I probably would've crushed on him in my teens. We haven't seen Dune yet and I have to admit the stills of him in it kind of make me laugh, like they're pushing too hard to make him an idol. I do think he will improve in looks as he ages.

Dammit Ginger now I want to watch that movie (which is not even available at my library!) I am an unabashed Merchant/Ivory fan Me too! I actually just watched Howard's End again a couple of days ago and A Room With a View is on the agenda. And I really liked A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries, for the record. But those movies do now feel to me like relics of the 80s and 90s, and I felt when I was watching Call Me By Your Name that it was a lesser version of something from the past, repackaged as if it was something new.
