I used to love watching the original series, even though I later understood that many jokes must have got lost in the German dubbing. And yet, I have no desire to watch this re-boot; just like with every other re-boot of 90s shows out there, I'm kind of over it. Plus, real Roseanne seems so unpleasant and mean (maybe she always was, but I wasn't aware back then), and the fact that the success of this seems to make Trump and his followers happy makes me stay away from it.

I think dubbing Rosanne in German would improve her for me; I don't know any German.

I’m not really against the show because Roseanne is a Trump supporter (I have a family full of Trump supporters), it’s that she’s using her platform (newly enhanced by the show) to push conspiracy theories (and to say shitty things about trans people. But I’m mostly going to yap about the conspiracy theories because no one needs to explain why it’s bad to shit on trans people). The thing she tweeted about last night is known as QAnon. It’s a lot like Pizzagate. A lot of people are able shrug this stuff with an eyeroll and write it off as dumb 4Chan stuff, but this gets legs with other people. My pro-Trump relatives love them a conspiracy theory (witness the Facebook post one of them put up a few weeks ago about the “Deep State”), and someone high profile repeating it makes them more likely to believe it/feel better about believing it. This thread does a great job of explaining why conspiracy theories are dangerous (for both sides of the political spectrum). We live in a time where the POTUS floods the discourse with misinformation because it benefits him when people aren’t clear on what’s actually going on. And people wave stuff away they don’t like with “fake news” and nothing gets done about it. I’m not calling for a boycott, this is just why I can’t get on board. My hope is that ABC muzzles her (they seem to be trying, as she is now deleting her more offensive tweets) and puts a damper on her ability to spread this stuff.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s a ratings drop in the coming weeks. I can’t believe ABC did a second season without seeing if people stick around.

I maybe in the minority here but I think the show is quite accurate in showing how Trump got elected. By people that have become bitter about life and even apathetic.

It's too bad Sarah Gilbert couldn't do this without Rosanne, calling it the Conner family or something. Rosanne is abrasive and mentally ill in a really unpleasant way, and that's really too bad. In their podcast this week, Tom and Lorenzo suggested that they build the show around Darlene - a single mom who has come home to care for her aging parents who have health problems. That's a very realistic situation for so many people and it's ripe for comedy and drama. But Roseanne is grabbing as much attention and focus for herself as possible. She's reveling in whatever controversy she can stir up.

As if I didn't already have enough reasons, Trump personally called Roseanne yesterday to congratulate her on her ratings. I'm sure he sees it as a win for him. Hmmm...I wonder if he will be calling Stormy Daniels to congratulate her since her appearance on 60 Minutes earned the show its biggest ratings in years.

Interestingly enough, many of the people who enjoyed the Roseanne reboot felt this same way about the viewers who raved about and loved the first episode of the Will and Grace reboot.

I had no idea that their house had another bathroom upstairs. I just assumed the only one was off Darlene and Becky's bedroom. That is pretty nice for such a small house. I hope the show starts to focus more on Darlene and Harris and that relationship because the casting their is just bang on.

yeah, I think they will be going for a "reap what you sow" between adult and teenager again.
Harris and Roseanne screaming in the chair did have me rolling.
