Boring Uncle Colm in Derry Girls cracks me up. I once had a dull teacher almost exactly like him and my brother and I can put ourselves in stitches imitating him, right down to the "and I says to him, says I..." He's our version of Grandpa Simpson's "onion tied to the belt" storytelling.

TTMR & I have gotten hooked on Letterkenny. The main writer and actor based on his hometown of Listowel, Ontario which we have driven through many, many times on our way to visit his family. I love the writing, and it just does a great job of capturing small town rural life. I really think that even though it's distinctly Canadian, anyone who grew up in the country would recognize the characters in their own town.
We are also now walking around saying the various catch phrases and we may or may not have ordered t-shirts.

I'm watching Made in Heaven on Amazon prime now, and it is so, so good.

It's so beautifully shot. I liken it to travel porn. I vacillate between envy for the photographers/cinematographers and thinking how boring (and maybe terrifying) their job really is. When all of those birds were flying around in the first episode, I got so anxious (I'm terrified of flying birds). And then at the end of the first episode, when all of the ice was falling into the sea off Greenland, all I could think was "I wonder how long they had to wait to get those shots?" Per usual, I was thoroughly entranced. Despite all the political shit going on in the world, our planet is simply wonderous. As to the new show Traitors on Netflix-- Skip it. It was awful... even with a good cast.

Thanks for the suggestion of Derry Girls, fitz and everyone else. It was the funniest things I've seen for a while and I've really needed the laughs. I wish there was more than 6 half hour episodes!

It was gorgeous, but also kind of a bummer because they dropped the silent hope of “Hey, if we show people how beautiful it all is maybe they will care about it” and flat out said, “Look at all this stuff we’re effing up.” Not a bummer they did that - I feel it is very necessary. But a bummer to see the impact we are making by being greedy and lazy and gross. I did like that every time they showed an ecosystem that was thriving, it was always because humans were leaving it alone. Showing us that things can recover if we actually try and do something about it.

I know for some of the Attenborough nature documentaries, they often do behind the scenes bits of certain particularly interesting and/or difficult shoots. It's always fascinating to see how they work around things and come up with ideas on how to get the shots, etc.

If you are impatient like I am, you can find Season 2, episodes 1-5 on Daily Motion. The only drawback to this is that there’s no closed captioning to help you translate when the Irish accents get too thick.

The new season of Call the Midwife started airing in the US on my PBS station last week and I caught up on both new episodes last night. Sister Monica Joan is still feeling old, getting deathly ill, losing her mind, I see. It feels like every single season has an episode where she runs away, cries about being old and irrelevant, and is on death's doorstep until she miraculously recovers!
I love Nurse Crane, but Sister Evangeline was the best midwife and I miss her on this show!
