I wish I had not seen the walrus scene on Our Planet. I'm going to be disturbed forever.

I wish I had not seen the walrus scene on Our Planet. I'm going to be disturbed forever. Yeah, that was awful and folds back into why it was all kind of a bummer - why were the walruses on that beach that was so crowded some of them climbed up a cliff they had no business being on? Because climate change took away their ice.

thanks for the heads up cuz that was next on my list. We marathoned the new Sabrina this weekend. I kind of fell asleep partway through the last episode. I still like the look of this show but something, not sure exactly, is keeping it from being great. Also, can't concentrate on much this week cuz of my Game of Thrones excitement

We marathoned the new Sabrina this weekend. I kind of fell asleep partway through the last episode. I still like the look of this show but something, not sure exactly, is keeping it from being great. I marathoned it too, and while I think this set of episodes is better than the first batch of episodes, I agree there is something that is keeping it from being great. It's like, if they just figure out how to take it up a couple notches, it would be amazing. Maybe they need to lean into the camp a little bit harder? Like, Miranda Otto is great as Aunt Zelda and clearly having a ball playing her. Same with the actress playing Mary. Aunt Hilda was better in this set up episodes too (though I apparently wasn't paying attention to the part where she decided to wear four inches of makeup 5 shades darker than her natural skin tone. What was that?). But then her cousin Ambrose (who was good in the first half) didn't have much to do, and while cute, Sabrina's two love interests are pretty dull. Her two friends are nice and earnest (and nice that they have a story line where a teen is actively transitioning), but they don't have a lot of flavor. Like, there are some developments that happen that should have caused way more tension between the friends - I mean, not friendship-enders, but there should have been much more of people pretending they were okay with something (because they should be) when they really aren't. Instead everyone is bright and sunny with each other. It also seems like it should be a bit harder to get one over on Satan.

When you guys do get the 2nd series of Derry Girls(Yep, I’m on about it again) the final ep will be close to US Greecies hearts, think listing presidents on car journeys that’s all I’ll say... And a few States left the US in the 90s in case you all missed it...........;-) Clinton is in DerryNot a spoiler he really was I remember it well. (Words as important now as they were then) 3rd series official! The timing of this show here is perfection, tomorrow is 21st anniversary of The Good Friday Agreement. A spoiler loaded/ filled article on Series 2 ...... with writer the brilliant Lisa McGee and that the series/and ending is honoring John Hume’s mighty work for peace.

I could have sworn there was a thread for The Crown but if there is, I can't find it. Anyway, they've cast Diana. Emma Corrin only has a handful of credits but she's probably as close a match as far as looks go as they'll find.

If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically the poor man’s YouTube. Just search for Derry Girls, season 2. I thought it was a great season. As good as or maybe even slightly better than the first season. The show runner seems to have a better grasp on her characters and their various quirks and does a better job of incorporating them into the storyline that feels really authentic. The last two episodes have some really emotional moments which I’m sure resonate incredibly deep with the Irish but even as an American I was moved by what was happening. Really, why wait? Go watch it now.

Really, why wait? Go watch it now. I tried. I couldn't understand for love or money half of what they were saying. I’m probably 300kms South of Derry and I get about 95% of it to be honest. Then again this island for such an actual small land mass has at the absolute very least about 64 different accents country accents always a bit different town/city accents..... You have my understanding and sympathies ;-) I’d say subtitles would be your friend tho only if done by a local Guide to Irish accents or as said in the comment The accents change every 20kms. So not helpful at all...Sorry :-) I think my accent is closest to Saoirse Ronan ish ish with a bit Northsoide and Southside Dublin thrown in. I lived on both sides of the citeh for a long time. I worked a short time in UK with a girl from Cork and I picked up bits of hers rather than the regional UK one, ‘‘tis mad Boi!

Yeah, I agree the accents make it difficult. I was aided by the fact that as a child I grew up in a neighborhood that was heavily populated with Irish immigrants so I understood most of it. In fact, the head nun reminded me a lot of my best friend’s grandmother with her Irish practicality and impatience with fools. My siblings and I still mimic her “Jesus, Mary and Joseph” that she used to mutter whenever she felt we were being idiots. The “Jesus, Mary and Joseph” was usually followed by a cutting remark or sharp command that took the wind out of our sails but she was also almost always good for a penny apiece to go to the candy store. This is, of course, when a penny would actually buy some candy.
