I also gotta recommend Pen15 on Hulu. The name makes it sound like it’s gonna be a live-action Big Mouth, but it actually isn’t all that bawdy (though it is there. Like the episode where one of the characters discovers masturbation). It stars two comedians who are in their 30s playing 13 year old versions of themselves. And all the other “kid” roles are played by actual kids, so it takes a minute to get past that, but it doesn’t take long (though one of the comedians is pretty tall and you are reminded when you see her towering over everyone else). But they capture the wonders and horrors of being in 7th grade pretty perfectly. And it’s set when the actresses were in 7th grade - so, like 1999-2000. It’s cargo pants and AOL all over the place. I really want to see that one but we don't get Hulu in Canada. I'm hoping a Canadian network will pick it up. Speaking of comedies I am really enjoying The Other Two. Its about the loser siblings of a Justin Bieber like singer. Its really funny but also a little sad. Its not as mean as you think it would be, it has empathy for all the characters. Except for maybe the Scooter Braun stand in. It just got renewed for a second season which I'm very happy about.

NPR had reviews of both shows and said they were great.

I have to admit to only lasting one episode of PEN15. Another television series of young kids who are obsessed with popularity and boys that also comes with tried and true middle school awkward moments. *yawn* Didn’t find the characters interesting enough to continue watching.

Just finished watching Happy! on Netflix. It was actually a show on SyFy a few years ago and it's going to have a 2nd season coming out soon so I guess that's why it's on Netflix. Chris Meloni (no baloney but his butt a couple of times) is an ex detective that is now a drunken hitman with cardiac problems. He is asked by a kidnapped girl's imaginary friend, a small flying unicorn voiced by Patton Oswalt, to help find her. There's more violence than I usually watch and children in peril that I hate, but the acting is good and the story is fast paced. There is an extremely creepy character named Smoothie that works for a mob boss that reminds me of a lot of Stephen Miller. He really could give insight into what Miller's problem is.

Anyone watching Black Earth Rising? It's an intriguing premise, but I'm having a hard time keeping up with the plot.

Has anybody watched Abducted in Plain Sight? It’s a documentary streaming on Netflix about a 12-year old girl who was kidnapped by a pedophile — not once but twice. It happened in the 70s and I know times were different then in how we viewed pedophiles (e.g., more like stranger danger types than people who gained our confidence and groomed our kids) but the sheer, well, the doc says naïveté but honestly I felt it was more like stupidity of a lot of the people featured in this documentary is astounding. Your mouth will hang open at what Mr. Pedophile got away with.

I can confidently say my mom would have physically hurt this guy if he had suggested sleeping with me or my sister. She literally tried to run o et a guy who attempted to lure my sister ( who ran for home and sounded the alarm). The exact opposite of Jan’s parents. What total idiots.
