The People Magazine article said Lori and her husband were "very competitive as parents". I think they didn't like their peer group thinking their daughters were dumb.
I've also been reading about how Lori and Mossimo live very, very lavishly and likely way beyond their means. I remember wondering years and years ago when their house was in some magazine how they could afford it and people said Mossimo makes oodles of money from his Target line. I'm not so sure the Target money was quite that big.

I saw an aerial shot of their house. TWO swimming pools! It looks like a hotel. The caption noted that they were flying a US flag and a USC flag. Wonder if they took the USC flag down? |

I remember a few years back she was on Entertainment Tonight (or one of those type of shows) showing off her house and coming off as a pretentious ass. So there's that.
Also, all the press is using the daughter's full name *every time* they mention it. Olivia Jade, Olivia Jade, Olivia Jade. I know that's her SM name, but it's still super annoying.

That house is amazing. She has a hell of a lot to lose, was this really worth it? Besides the half million that she already laid out, the income loss from being dropped from Hallmark, legal fees, and fines (assuming she can avoid jail time if she pays enough), all this just to get her kids into colleges they didn't even want to go to? The disparity between risk and reward on this choice is astronomical. Also, this is totally petty, but can we fix the spelling on the thread?  It's spelled "Loughlin" |

According to Variety in 2017, her home is worth $35 m, which is quite a lot considering Gwyneth's LA home is $10 m. They also say her husband sold his business for $130 m. Sounds like they made some money in real estate.

I think this whole nonsense is like keeping up with the Joneses. I think about over the top weddings and over the top sweet sixteen parties. Everybody wants to be more fabulous than their neighbor. It's all smoke and mirrors, how things look, how much your house is worth, how much money you spend on clothes. This is right up there with nonsense like that, if your kids can't get into USC, or Yale on their own, well cheat to get them there, because the only thing that matters is saying, "My child goes to....."
