I've never cared for this girl and see her as yet another beneficiary of nepotism, but that being said, she had to have had at least some talent of her own for her makeup tutorials to have taken off the way they did and for her to become an "influencer." Lori Loughlin isn't a big enough star for Olivia to not have had to put in any work...after all, if she was she would have been able to get/buy her kid into whatever school she wanted without resorting to pretending she was on the rowing team. So I guess I give Olivia some credit for hustling to get back into the public's good graces. DWTS just wants eyes on the screen, whether that means they bring in Carole Baskin or Tom Delay back in the day, or Olivia Jade now. In certain cases it should more accurately be called "Dancing With The Notorious."
As one of the ladies on Red Table Talk said, the proof will be in the pudding as to whether OJ is seriously full of remorse or if it's all an act. She is young and I don't necessarily think that her involvement in this scandal should haunt her for the rest of her life, but I do think she ought to be walking the walk and using some of her immense privilege to try to make things better for others not so fortunate. I don't really follow her, so I can't say whether she is doing that or not. If she's not, than I'm not supportive of her "comeback."

Mileages vary as to how much responsibility Olivia Jade should bear for the scandal, but I have always felt she was a kid, and the real villains of the story are her parents and the guy running the scam. She was born privileged, and that's not going to change. She doesn't have interests that go beyond makeup and social media influencing, so she may as well continue with that. There are tons of influencers out there who seem like far worse people and use their platforms for far more harmful influencing. I don't have the fuel to stay mad that she lied on her college application when she was 17.
I was mad when DWTS brought on Sean Spicer and Rick Perry to help them soften their images.

I agree on the responsibility front. Olivia Jade was not the person who was desperate to get into USC...her parents were desperate on her behalf. She probably would have been just fine with not going to college at all and focusing on growing her career. So in that regard, they really screwed her over by dragging her into this cockamamie scheme. Not all 17 year olds are mature or self possessed enough to stand up to their parents. I mean, look at all the ethical lapses that have happened in workplaces or in the military over the years because of subordinates going along with leadership's desires. That's essentially what happened here too. And it's not like OJ had an HR department to report her parents to.
And given her upbringing, I tend to believe her that she didn't even really stop to think that what was happening was wrong or out of the ordinary. She just thought this is what everyone of her ilk does to get ahead. Privilege, in many cases, is almost a form of brainwashing because you are so out of touch with the real world...unless you're a thoughtful person, you probably don't really question your circumstances.

I wonder if Olivia Jade's influencer career is coming back. She had some very good sponsors for her type of thing, but I can't see Amazon or Sephora signing her up again any time soon.

A brief survey of her instagram shows she's partnered with Vivrelle (a subscription service which seems to be similar to Bag, Borrow, Steal), she's got a podcast coming out later this month on Iheartradio and she has a monetized youtube channel with 1.83 million subscribers which is now a "Travel Vlog". So she seems to be doing ok keeping the engine running.

Good for her but I feel like this is really the least she could do. They have plenty of money so I'm sure this is more of a PR move then a genuine symbol of contrition.

She still sucks, but at least those two people get to go to college.

She still sucks, but at least those two people get to go to college. Two people who actually wanted to go to college for a change.
