They didn’t twist his words, the interviewer tried to correct him and he rejected that and repeated that she only “co-writes” her songs and doesn’t write them herself.
He also said her music is relentlessly upbeat, so that shows how much he’s paying attention to her music. And to bring up Billie when there are rumors that Finneas does all the writing and Billie is more of a vanity credit, it’s like he’s been living in a cave.

He also said her music is relentlessly upbeat, so that shows how much he’s paying attention to her music. Exactly. This is not even true. I think he just heard "Shake it Off" and "You Need to Calm Down" and decided that represented all of her music. There is much more to her music than songs about love and heartbreak. She had a murder ballad on her last album, FFS.

I'm reluctant to give Taylor credit for speaking up here only because she does he same no matter who criticizes her. When Tina Fey and Amy Poehler cracked mild jokes about her in a monologue she did the same thing. So she doesn't just put older men devaluing her accomplishments in their place ... she jumps on every bit of criticism to further her victim image and get attention. So in this case, I say good for you Taylor! But as a career practice, not so much. I agree. Taylor Swift has such a long history of overreacting to any criticism that when the absolute asinine comments that Damon Albarn made, she uses the same type of reaction. Her martyrdom is irritating.

Bringing up the thread because we were at the Eras tour in Nashville this weekend and … wow.
I went in a casual fan and left five - five! - hours later, a Swiftie. Totally impressed by the work ethic, the professionalism and the 1000 percent she put into the show. And then two nights later, she did her full show, which wasn’t a cakewalk in the slightest, in pouring rain.
I used to not be a big fan of her voice as I’m not a country pop person but as she has grown and expanded as a singer, I’ve become more of a fan. Her songwriting is incredible. And I have to say the vibe of the concert was unlike I had ever experienced and I think it was because probably around 95% of the crowd was female. It felt like a safe space, crazy to say.
I love that she is re-recording her early records, so often young artists are taken advantage of in the music business. I think it was a genius plan that will have positive repercussions for other artists. And to be honest, I can’t bring myself to feel sorry for anybody that she has written about. We have all been there. We have all had relationships where the men turned out to be complete fuckwits. Maybe if they were called out more, they would think about their behavior. Earlier in this thread, some posters said she had a victim complex. Maybe so, but I think how empowering it is for Taylor and her young fans to say: this behavior was not okay and I don’t deserve to be treated that way.

I don’t pay much attention to Taylor (because I find the gossip-y stuff and a lot of the “fandom” stuff irritating), but when I do I pay attention usually like what I see/hear, so I could easily become a Swiftie.
I watched Miss Americana when it came out, and I walked away really wanting her Tennessee loft (it wasn’t her main home/some mansion, but a smaller place in Tennessee and it was super-cute) and I admired her for standing up to her dad and her management when they begged her not to get political because they were afraid she’d get Dixie Chick’d and she refused to stay quiet in the face of a sexual predator in the WH and anti-LGBTQ politicians in Tennessee.
Speaking of The Chicks, I get the “safe space” feeling from a mostly female audience. I went to their show a few years back and outside of spouses/partners who came along, it was an overwhelming female audience and the vibes were good. Although, when you hear the entire crowd yell, “Earl had to DIE!!” during “Goodbye Earl” with some genuine anger, you understand why these safe spaces are important and far too rare.

Taylor is playing Gillette Stadium for the next three days. Sometimes when there is a special event at Gillette, there will be a special commuter train that goes past my house. It's 10:30 in the morning right now, and at least three trains have already gone by. I'm assuming there will be several more since the concert doesn't start for another eight hours. I've never seen anything like it before. There's nobody (Springsteen, Stones, Beyonce, Kenny Chesney) who has ever played this many days or drawn this big a crowd. It's nuts. Good for her, especially if she's putting on a good show.
I only know her big radio hits and I could take it or leave it, but I'm impressed by her work ethic.

I'm pretty sure Taylor is in Philly for the next night or two playing at Lincoln Financial Field. Maybe something else is happening at Gillette?

Yeah, TayTay is at Gillette next weekend.
I know this because we couldn’t get hotel rooms for OUR gig in Norwood next weekend, due to Taylor being in town.
See, now she is personally inconveniencing ME. Right up there with Rob Zombie now…!
