A Taylor Swift endorsement as an October surprise feels a little underwhelming if you ask me. Absolutely! I'm hoping she'll come out with something sooner but who knows how this whole Taylor Swift machine works. I just have a feeling they are being really careful with any media statements they release just based on people's unhinged reactions. The whole Vienna stuff probably makes it all the more heightened!

I think you have to stop looking at a Taylor Swift endorsement as something you need to be over/underwhelmed by.
You have to take a 30000 foot level look at the next 70ish days right? But what you're looking for right now is the 30 foot level. This stuff is planned and strategic. Like I said before we all know an endorsement is coming. But doing it at the DNC would have been like losing your virginity on prom night... expected and not at all satisfying. Doing it this week doesn't make sense. People are still talking about the differences between the DNC and RNC. People are still all aboard the Harris Walz train and they have momentum. They're owning airwaves. People are also busy with back to school, and end of season vacations and fall sports stuff. Doesn't make sense to unleash a bomb now... The Harris Campaign has taken to the strategy of "let Trump speak, he does more damage that we can" tack and its the right one for right now. I have no doubt that Trump is gonna do something, some stunt (per chance a second assassination attempt? whch FYI- not a conspiracy theorist, but the more I think about it.. the more the math aint mathin for me). And that's when she's gonna come out swinging.

Why do you all think that the responsibility of the presidential race falls at the hands of Taylor Swift, pop singer? If she doesn’t endorse in a timeline that someone seems sufficient, will it be her fault if Harris loses? Sometimes I feel like people hate Taylor so much that they will search for things to make her fault. It’s weird.

I understand that any celebrity shouldn't be the push that gets Americans to the polls, but I really don't see how it would hurt.

I was talking with a friend yesterday who’s been getting increasingly involved in the Harris/Walz campaign said she’s hoping Taylor and Beyoncé do a joint Get Out The Vote campaign soon. And encourage their fans to register to vote. Whether that’s a concert special or something, who knows. They should use their fame for something like that.
Wondering how Taylor feels now that her new BFF Brittany Mahomes looks to be a Trump supporter.

But she is a global mega star and for better or worse, however she endorses could influence how people vote. I'm just curious to see how she will do it this year. I think in 2020, she just had a picture of Biden cookies on her Instagram.

I'll be devil's advocate here and say that if I were a star as big as Taylor, I wouldn't endorse anyone. I'd keep all politicians and political causes away from me with a 10 foot pole. Because when you're a star, you're a business person, and your business is yourself. Endorsing anything means you lose fans, and people attack you for whatever cause you support, or don't support. Once you dip your toes in the political waters, then nothing you do and no one you support will ever be enough. You will inevitably be taken down for it despite your best efforts. If you read Reddit threads, look at the "fauxmoi" subreddit. It is filled to the brim with rabid people who hate any and all celebrities whose opinions aren't perfectly aligned with theirs. Which means they hate just about everyone.
We might not like it as politically minded people ourselves, especially when it's an existential threat like Trump, but she will lose fans if she endorses Biden. It's much safer for her to limit her public statements to past boyfriends and generic feminism.

OK, that's understandable. What's stopping her from endorsing Harris/Walz? I know she wasn't going to be at the DNC, but she has (way too much) public sway and this election needs more voters towards not Agent Orange. With a couple of small exceptions, she has not been known as a politically driven celebrity. I think that's what is stopping her. And honestly, the number of people talking about her needing to, and in some cases demanding it, weakens the message if she ever does decide to endorse. Now, will it be because she truly believes in Harris, or because the public demanded she do it?

I too am surprised to see all the over the top expectations for Taylor's endorsement. Primarily because she was so known for NOT endorsing anything political. Isn't that her thing? She endorsed Biden, but that was - in part- a big deal because she so famously did not endorse Clinton, or anything else political.
Maybe she will this time, maybe she won't. But I'm really surprised the narrative has shifted so heavily to how/when she will- and not IF. It's just expected. Kinda like someone big showing at the DNC... I won't be shocked if nothing comes of it.

Don't forget that she still has more shows on her tour in Canada, which is close enough that if she pissed off a Trumper enough to stir shit up at a concert, any of the Canadian shows are just an hour away from the border. I imagine that the Vienna incident will weigh on her. And frankly, with my daughter going to the Toronto show, I'm happy for her not to kick the hornet's nest.
