I'd go to Nashville. Plenty of stuff to see, plus a show at the Grand Ole Opry. That is true Americana right there. Plus Memphis is down the road two hours. You can visit Graceland! I was actually in the planning stages of a trip with a workmate last winter before I pulled the plug and left that place of work.

As someone that has been to all three American cities, I’d rank those those trips as 1) Moab 2) San Antonio 3) Nashville.
Moab - and driving around Utah in general - has been a top 3 trip for us. It feels fitting of a “milestone” trip. I also enjoyed San Antonio (and Austin!) but it was probably the hottest place I’ve ever been and that was early May, just something to consider. I’ve done several long weekends in Nashville and I have no real desire to go back at this point. The vibe of the city has changed a lot in the last decade, in my opinion, and it lives up to the “Nashvegas” name, and It has also become so expensive. I can see myself stopping as part of a road trip or going for an event, but I think the other two cities have more to offer.

The average (AVERAGE!) cost of a hotel room in Nashville is $250/night.
I’d go to Moab, if you’ve never been before. Look at the weather for all of your locations for the time of year you plan to travel. I think it was 116 degrees F in TX today.

Utah is not known for cool weather in the summer time. My husband's cousin lives in Salt Lake and it was 106 degrees on Sunday and 102 degrees yesterday. It cooled off to low 90s last night. Good luck.

The band just played Nashville Friday night (Schermerhorn). Beautiful venue surrounded by Bedlam. Couldn’t wait to get to Knoxville Saturday.
And I was paid to be there.

I hope this helps -- here is the link to the Weather Underground for Moab, Utah.

Thanks! My birthday is April so that's when we're going. This has all been really helpful.

batmom, if you're considering Moab, April is a perfect time to go. When I ran a search for the best time of year to visit Moab, there were multiple websites that stated March through May, then September through October-ish were the best times weather-wise. Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy yourself.

Moab was amazing! So beautiful. We did a lot of great hikes, strolls, and poking around. It was an excellent place to spend my birthday week.
Looking for ideas - I'm in Orlando for a conference until Oct 30 then I have to be in Las Vegas for another show Nov 4 (yes, Election week. yay!). My BF have been thinking about a small getaway this fall and were thinking of maybe squeezing one in Oct31-Nov 3, then we save on my airfare. So the criteria is that it's easy to get to from Orlando and then to Las Vegas, but also not a headache for my BF to get to from Vancouver. But also fun.
We've been thinking Mexico, Nashville, Charlotte or Savannah. Any other ideas?
