If people insist on doing this, just take a damn note from the doctor to the bakery and ask them to make the inside of the cake blue or pink. Nobody dies and everyone gets cake. It's a win win!

Isn’t it illegal to shoot a loaded gun in the air? (Wild West shoot ‘em up celebration style). It should be just as illegal to blow up (pretty much) pipe bombs. Heck, you can’t even blow off cherry bombs, and they just take out fingers. Not grandmas and friends and half a state in a forest fire. I would think that it should be illegal. People have gotten injured, even killed, by bullets that have fallen out of the sky or ricocheted off other things.

Yes, but that's what my cousin did, so I have to do something more elaborate. And more expensive. So that I get more praise because I'm more creative. Because my baby is more important and deserves more likes on FB and IG.

Because guys get to show everyone their prowess at sperm production and how manly they are. I mean, all a women have to do is lie there, carry a baby for 9 months and push it out, and then they whine about it.
You see the fireworks in the movies when the guy ejaculates? The fathers don’t really care about the sex of the baby, but they get to a provide a Hollywood style demonstration of the real hero of the process, the “I haz sex! And here’s proof!” explosion!
(You think women are responsible for the exploding pink/blue pipe bombs? That has testosterone written all over it.)

But I would expand on this point to include that no one really cares about others' kids, except for the parents (and probably the grandparents). 😂 I could expand this point even further to include people's dogs. I'd care about other people's dogs as long as I am allowed to play with them.

Dang, just read that article. That's gotta be at least manslaughter charges for the parents-to-be, right? They set up this contraption, purposely set it off, and it killed someone.
Every day I am so grateful my kids were born before social media and I didn't have to put up with this crap.

You know what's even worse? It wasn't even a gender reveal, it was a baby shower. There was no colored smoke or anything, they just wanted to shoot off a goddang cannon to "celebrate".
I hope they enjoy raising their child in poverty, because I imagine the family of the deceased will sue them for everything they own.

It sounds like the guy who was killed was the one who hosted the shower (you don't give yourself a baby shower!) and the one who set up the device. So the parents-to-be aren't responsible.
I still don't understand why, though. He couldn't set off fireworks? Although people need to tone down their celebrations of routine events.

Ahhh, I missed that point, thank you for clarifying.
ETA - I just read again and the person killed was a friend of the people hosting the shower, none of whom were the parents-to-be. So the homeowner may get sued, but the parents certainly should not.
