I've never thought he is cute, but he looks terrible in those photos. Yeah, neither looks their best. They definitely look like parents of a newborn.

I've never thought he is cute, but he looks terrible in those photos. He really does, his skin looks absolutely ravaged. And his shirt looks like that "when your v-neck becomes a u-neck" a commercial, lol. Also, who writes this shit? Does Olivia's camp write up the descriptions when they call the paps or what? Why are they describing these two nondescript outfits with the breathless detail of a Met gala ensemble?

IMO he looks bad because of the extra weight he's carrying. And it does emphasize the feminine hips he once referred to in his standup. Sorry, I know it's verboten to say such things, but it's the truth.
But better to be carrying a few extra pounds than to be "cocaine skinny" as he referred to it.

But I'm thinking, what was she thinking?
"I got this cool bra. I'll button the bottom two buttons on John's shirt, leave the top three open. Then I'll tuck the left shirt tail in the front of my pants. There. Perfect! I've exposed my entire right breast, but it looks caz.... Baby daddy looks like he just rolled out of bed, and I look like I'm still in bed. Time for a pap walk!"

I think she's thinking it makes them look like devoted and doting parents. It pushes the image that they are worn out from taking care of their baby - not pushing it off to a nanny while they continue doing beautiful and glamorous things. The part she miscalculated is that the baby is nowhere around in those pictures ... is he with a nanny?

I had two toddlers and a newborn, no nanny and I suspect (with New York prices) a bigger home to maintain. I still managed to look more put together when I went outside just to pull weeds.
So yeah, if this was a fashion choice, it's a miss.

Unfortunately for him, "cocaine skinny" really fit best with his overall look. When I imagine him in his most successful specials, I see that tall, rail-thin, 1940s announcer-voiced guy and it all fits together. Of course, at the time, I'd just assumed he was one of those fast metabolism guys who are naturally skinny, I totally believed he was sober, but it seems like he probably wasn't through most of those successful moments. He also walks like a duck-footed doofus, which again, kinda fit with his whole vibe when he was skinny and dressed in a suit, but the weight gain and the schlubby clothes accentuate the weird walk.

The "extra few pounds" look is an encouraging physical sign he may be sober...or coke bloat with a five o'clock shadow. I'm hoping its the former.

This is sad. Petunia the dog has died. Mulaney’s ex, Anne Marie Tendler, wrote an essay about how Petunia saved her life, when she had no reason to live. It’s in an Elle essayI related to this. Not as bad as Tendler, but my dog got me through the death of my father. He was my only reason to continue for a while.
