Every woman I know who is a Monkees fan loved Mike the best. You aren't wrong on that front for me. It was a tie between him and Mickey. Mike was dry wit funny and Mickey was the boisterous funny one. I was a Davy girl--one day my dad asked me why he was my favorite, and I told him, "Because he's my size..." (I was four). "Daydream Believer" will live forever on my all-time favorite songs list...

Every woman I know who is a Monkees fan loved Mike the best. Peter for me. And for my bff, coincidentally.

I'm so sad about Anne Rice. I can't judge the Twilight kids too hard because her Vampire Chronicles were HUGE for me in high school. Also I'm fairly sure Cry to Heaven was the first openly queer novel I ever read... growing up in a conservative Christian environment, I can honestly say it was a life-changing book.
RIP.

Yeah, Vampire Chronicles were huge for me too. Of course suggested by a guy I had a mad crush on and then problematic relationship/friendship afterwards for many years lol. She was the same age as my dad, yikes. I can judge - Twilight sucks. I read all of them. Sadly the books are "better" than the movies which isn't saying much (Twilight I'm talking about).
I think she was a fine writer and seemed like a pretty cool person.

I haven't read any of Anne Rice's books, but when I lived in Dallas, shortly after Mr. d and I married, I worked for a couple of accountants, one of whom married a woman who had grown up with Rice, and was still besties with her. This was around the time that her books were becoming best sellers, and my boss told me that going out in public with her had become a bit complicated, since a large percentage of her fans did not seem to be aware that her books were fiction, as were her characters...

I wasn't huge fan of the Lestat books but Tale of the Body Thief will always be one of my favorite books, regardless of genre.

Talking Back is such a great book. She always saw things so clearly and was unapologetic about speaking her mind.
