Isn’t Brown the refuge of the celeb kid? I kind of applauded Apple for choosing a school, elite though it might be, in flyover country. Hope she and her brother get degrees and real careers. IIRC, at Brown, there are no gen ed requirements. Students, kind of, create their own major program. At least, that's how it used to be. Not sure if that's changed. If the process is still the same, I could see a celebrity's kid thinking it might be the easiest way for them to attend an Ivy. I think it's more that there's no required core classes you have to complete aside from those in your major. Ie when I was in undergrad I had to take something like: 2 semesters of a language 1 math 1 lab science and the accompanying lab 2 religion courses (Catholic college) 2 English/Lit courses 1 Philosphy 1 Art/music of some sort 1 Freshman Seminar and then some stupid bullshit computer courses like "using Microsoft Access for Success!" Then for my major I had to take 10 classes with like 5 required I think at Brown they're like "Do you know that you suck really hard at art? Then you don't have to do it! Are you already speaking fluent Tagalog at home? Then you don't need to do a second language do something that interests you.. have you looked at Underwater Basketweaving?" TBH, those gen ed courses caused me more stress than the ones in my major. I mean I can do comparative world religions or poly sci or bobble my way through biology but Spanish? AWFUL. I mean my roommate and I dragged out that math requirement til senior year and I actually went to the professor on the first day and said "Hi, I'm L and this is S and we're graduating seniors in social work. We'll NEVER need to graph a parabola or find the the cosine of X. We need this course to graduate. If we show up to every class, do all the homework, take every test, participate.. can you just give us a D?" and the professor was like "honestly? Seems reasonable"

I like the "Introduction To..." for those who may want to explore possible majors/minors.
OT: Was there an article about Moses' place in NYC?

Gwyneth appeared in a set of pictures from Paris Fashion Week that TLo posted so I was curious if Apple is there with her this year. It doesn't look like she was because I figured it would have been mentioned in this People article about her. But my goodness, her expression from the Armani Prive show. Smug is definitely her signature expression.

Smug is definitely her signature expression. 100%. She looks different to me--like she's had work done around her eyes. Also, can they stop trying to make those awful serial killer glasses happen? I can't with that style.

She looks like Chloë Sevigny. I just googled Chloe and the second Chloe pic looks exactly the same as Gwyneth. The same dead seen it all eyes.

She doesn't look fresh-faced or fierce there. She looks smug. Also bland.

Gwynnie was on Hot Ones this week. She seemed surprisingly normal, only slightly condescending.

She generally seems to come across better live than in print.

Interesting article about Goop: LINKMaybe it's not worth as much as she says it is. This valuation number that journalists keep floating originally came from an "unnamed source" within the company. It's hard to sell a company that isn't profitable. Her acting career has dried up and she has a very expensive lifestyle. So, what choice does she have? She has to keep hustling and trying to build the brand until she can sell it for a price she's happy with. Keeping the company private but letting someone else run it just costs her more money. And she gets lots of perks like write-offs and clothes and travel. Any business experts out there? Is there another exit strategy for her?
