Or you can read the posts directly before that to know the “hardly cosmopolitan credentials” referred to the fact that they were of the SAME race and culture and not dating OUTSIDE race and culture. NOTHING zero zilch to do with the fact that the race and culture in question was Caucasian American, they could have both been Somalians or Spaniards - the key point being both, and therefore not inter-cultural, and therefore *necessarily* not an indication of cosmopolitan, (even though obviously inter-cultural dating is not the only marker of cosmopolitan-ness, lest you jump on me for that in the least but is one IMO, and is the one that was under discussion here).
Though I now at least see a little bit how the mix-up in your mind happened since I used the term (which I’d forgotten since it was in such a completely different context and therefore genuinely thought you had just spun it out of nowhere!) regarding countering that Brad and Goop was not an example of an interracial or intercultural relationship. Which I’ve also stated above. I could just as easily have been saying it about a small town conservative untravelled unexposed Pakistani along the lines of “it gives me a new insight in her character that she married a Frenchman, she didn’t seem cosmopolitan or the type to be comfortable with that adjustment”, and my mum cites “oh but she’s dated [insert name of fellow Pakistani]” and the obvious point to that is “he’s a fellow Pakistani so how is that an example of her being cosmopolitan”. So THAT is the context I wrote that which I think was already clear when one reads surrounding posts and previous explanations and clarifications but hopefully will be even clearer now. It’s now my nth explanation and if you still want to insist that I said something else, well at this point there’s little else I can say.
