Fair. The 'half-out' part of their scheme isn't working out that well, excluding the trashing the family for profit bit.

They would have been a great asset to the Crown. They could have handled things better instead of going scorched earth and being so bloody petulant at every turn. They could have been doing some of the work that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are currently undertaking with the King and the Princess of Wales sidelined. They theoretically could have been great assets and were given opportunities to do so. They didn't want that from the start IMHO (from their own words) and by 2019 were having meetings with Quibi, Spotify and Netflix (confirmed). Well before they left. They didn't want to be assets or team players, they wanted to be global superstars. Which they have tried and failed to do. They couldn't have done Half in, Half out especially as media people, because Sophie and Edward had already tried and failed that rather spectacularly. Now E&S are the ones that focus on some rather serious charities whilst the Sussexes collect random awards and announce a lot of things that rarely happen. If they had chosen a different path like actually wanting private lives then they would probably have been welcome at more royal events.

For anyone curious, as I was, here is the gown as it is meant to be worn (and please don’t ban me, fellow mods; I can’t make this link to save my life.) It ain’t the designer’s finest work—for my money, the simple denim cap-sleeve, circle-skirted dress that Meghan famously wore to the polo is one of the best things Herrera has designed and one of the most flattering things M or any other royal has worn—but it was definitely ill suited for M’s short, wide, no-waist torso (which I share, so I know how hard it is to dress) even before pregnancy widened her ribcage and waist. The neckline and breasts aren’t pulled apart in that weird U-shape on a narrower frame, and the odd darting at the nipples makes better sense when the wearer’s chest isn’t pulling at it. The color is, however, perfection against M’s gorgeous skin, and I can see what drew her to it. I have to wonder whether Meghan works without benefit of a competent stylist, who would’ve steered her to a different red Herrera, or she had one but ignored her advice. www.shopstyle.com/g/women/carolina-herrera/convertible-silk-moire-gown-red/940036517

The dress definitely is more flattering on the model. I agree while the colour suits her, that design doesn’t work on Meghan. There were stories earlier this year that Meghan was working with a new stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, but I can’t say I’ve noticed her dressing noticeably different. I find Meghan tends towards wearing clothing that is rumpled and poorly fitted.
Yeah I don’t think Meghan & Harry could have kept their egos in check to be an asset to the crown. They were always going to play second fiddle to William & Kate and they always hated that. They would have continually caused a fuss about why are we not doing X? Why does Kate get Y? We need Z and on and on. They never were going to be satisfied. They thought they were superstars being held back and well nearly 5 years post royal life exit they’ve yet to set the world on fire or Montecito….

Is there actual proof that they are not behind any of the California wildfires?

I believe there was a report somewhere that said at least one of them was started by a dumpster fire.
Edited to add: wow, I just clicked on the links for that red dress. The fit on that is atrocious. And she was a very different size each time she wore it, and yet it didn't fit her well in either case.

My favourite dress of Meghan's was that Karen Millan yellow and Saafyia in blue. Red is a good colour on her but the fit for CH has always been off. She looks so much better in colours I don't know why she loves neutrals, apart from maybe being Xellenial.
I just got some photos of Edward and Sophia in Malta on my feed and it reminded me of Meghan having relatives there (possibly) and how that could have been them if they had played their cards right.

If they'd had completely different personalities and ambitions, they would have been great assets. But the only cause these two wanted to benefit was themselves. Elizabeth very sensibly wasn't going for HIHO, she'd already seen it tried and failed, and she had no illusions it would be better the second time around. Plus, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she saw where they were going with it, given that they had SussexRoyal ready to roll the moment they moved to Canada. And if they'd just stepped down and gone to live quietly somewhere else, I agree that they'd be welcome at events, just like Sarah Chatto is. She really has the best of both world IMO.
