Tom Hanks has also been a public figure for 30+ years who's long had an image as a genuinely nice guy, so yelling at someone on the street even if it is justified (and I think it was) is so counter to his "brand" that it gets attention but doesn't totally destroy his reputation given the context of the incident. I've been on the board since the beginning, and am reasonably up on pop culture, and the first time I ever heard of Ezra Miller was when this thread was opened. So day one's exposure to them was "Yikes," and hasn't improved. Miller doesn't have a recognizable brand up in the eyes of the general public, so they don't have a lot to counterbalance their horrible actions. Tom Hanks, OTOH, has built up decades of "solid guy" behavior, so when he yells at a fan/pap who nearly knocked his wife over, pretty much everyone is likely to look at it through the lens of who he's seen to be.

This just gets more disturbing by the day:

According to a new report from Rolling Stone, Miller is currently housing a 25-year-old mother and her three young children, aged one to five, at their home in Vermont. The property reportedly doubles as an unlicensed cannabis farm and is littered with firearms. Multiple sources have expressed concern for the children’s safety, citing incidents of frequent cannabis use and insufficient security around the guns.

Miller’s representatives did not immediately respond to IndieWire’s request for comment.

The family is said to have been living with Miller since April after the mother met the actor in Hawaii in March. She claims that Miller helped her escape an abusive relationship, telling Rolling Stone anonymously that their home has been a “healing haven” for the family.

Other sources see it differently. The children are reportedly exposed to large amounts of marijuana smoke in poorly ventilated environments, and there are eight guns of various sizes strewn about the living room. One source told a particularly disturbing story about a one-year-old child finding a loose bullet and putting it in their mouth.

One source is the children’s father, who anonymously spoke to Rolling Stone and expressed fear for his children’s safety.

“I am going through hell and back,” he said. “I got a bad feeling in my stomach… I do want to go get my kids, they mean the fucking world to me.”

The mother told Rolling Stone that Miller “may have firearms for self-defense purposes and they are stored in a part of the house that the children never go in… My kids are able to relax more into their healing because of the safety and nurturing Ezra has been providing for them.”

Rolling Stone reviewed text messages between the father and a Vermont social worker, who said they had visited the house on May 16 and that the kids “looked good,” but that the worker had “more work to do.”

My knowledge of Ezra Miller was at the "being cast in the lead role in The Flash movie" level of famous to a comic book nerd, so I knew whom they (Ezra) were before this.

For a they who is so intent on reveling in their they-ness, this person certainly likes to pick vulnerable women to abuse.

I've no doubt they promised the moon to the Hawaiian mother staying in Vermont, and being so young and with nowhere to go with three kids (and in a state alien to her, and isolated on this farm), she's likely putting up with all sorts of sh**t but denying it.

I don't care if Ezra is sick in the head and need help. They need their ass kicked, hard.

I don't think you should put this on non-binary folks, who are already struggling along with the rest of the LGBTQ+ communities.

Also, physically assaulting someone who physically assaulting people is not going to make them better, even said in jest.
