There is an old wives tale that girl babies steal their mother's looks. It seems to be true in Maxima's case (the opposite is true in Mette-Marit's). Ever since she got pregnant with Amalia girlfriend has been looking rough. When Maxima first came on the scene she had such a sparkle to her and caused so much excitement, but the baby seemed to suck the life force from her. She looks like she's aged ten years.

I don't know about that. The thing about Maxima looking kind of harsh I agree with. But the baby "stealing" her looks? Have you seen Catharine Amalia? She is NOT a cute baby...she's pretty ugly, actually - so there must be somewhere else Maxima's went besides to Catharine Amalia.

Oh, I agree that Amalia is totally fug. Whenever I see a pic of her I think, "That's unfortunate." But she looks like the rest of the Benelux royals, maybe the ugliest of the royal families as a whole. Amalia looks like her dad. Not a good thing.

Amalia is one ugly kid. She breaks the mold on the whole "all babies are cute" maxim. For her part, Maxima isn't totally fug, but she's not hot either. I think she's just aging particularly badly.

I'm suprised that the kid's so ugly, though. As far as the rest of the dutch royal famil, they're not attractive but I wouldn't call them all ugly (or as ugly as the Spanish royals are).

Well if Maxima would quit smoking that would help. Smoking ages you so badly its unfortunate not to mention the other health risks. Another example of ageing is PRINCESS Caroline, smoking has robbed her of her looks also.

Yes Maxima and Willem are both smokers. I know this because a picture was on one of the boards with them on a skiing holiday. They both were sitting at a table with friends, and they had cigarettes in their hands. I
didn't know Letizia was a smoker. I have never seen a pic with her having a cigarette. She must be more private about her use.

Well here's to Maxima and WA on their 3rd wedding anniversary. The best recent royal wedding IMHO. Filled with love and joy (the one in Denmark was pretty great too). And the dress/tiara/veil was the most beautiful of the modern royal brides (the only one that comes close to it in my view is Claire's). Ahhh- back to the day when Maxima was still beautiful and we could still believe that maybe, just maybe, their children would take after her in the looks department and avoid the massive amount of fug that permeates the Dutch royal gene pool.

I hope Maxima isn't smoking while she is pregnant.
I wonder if she smoked while she was pregnant with Amalia?

IIRC, she quit while she was pregnant and then started up again later.

I smoke, so I guess I shouldn't be a hypocrit about things - but at least my skin looks a lot better than hers.

Poor kid is damn ugly. Well at least she'll be Queen one day...and that's about it. If's she's still ugly as an adult hopefully she'll get some plastic surgery asap.
