Damn mrpancake. Are we related by any chance? You look just like my brother! lol. He's a cutie so no insult intended. Thanks for posting the Meryl Streep pictures. She really sounds like a cool lady. I'm jealous you got to meet her.

mrpancake it is so funny to see the pictures because for some reason I'd always pictured you looking like Bill Kirchenbauer (aka Coach Lubbock on tv's Just the Ten of Us).
I have no idea why I pictured you like this.

Ha Jensational, I had to look that guy up. I'm glad I don't look like him...yet! Anyway, I just wanted to say, I saw Meryl and Lilly Tomlin's presentation at the Oscars again, and it really is a testimony as to how talented they both are. Having watched the rehersals, and as I'm sure you've all seen, presenting is really, really hard for many celebrities, and they aren't lying when they say they get more nervous presenting than being a nominee. They are in an industry where you get to do take after take, so speaking, even when rehearsed, and only having one chance, is so tough for them. Hell, anyone who watches the Oscars sees the presenters screw up on the simplest of readings. So the fact that they can pull that off so well is pretty cool to see.
My friend and I always joke that we wish we didn't look so ugly in the picture because it is such a cool thing to have, and if we looked halfway decent, we would blow it up poster size and carry it around. Hee!

Trust me, it's a job beyond Photoshop. Truly, I'd be astonished if someone could fix it to make it look presentable. I actually have, and while I got rid of the zits, my squinty eyes, fat face, matted hair and braces may take more skill.

Just a bump to wish Meryl a happy birthday. She's 57; would that we all look so good at 57!

Re: the sexualising of young actresses. I realise it's a question of degree, truly I realise that, but playing Devil's Advocate for a minute, haven't a lot of actresses done that in decades past? Marilyn, Mariska Haritgay's mother (whose name escapes me right now due to having 3 minutes before I have to go out), Harlow's no underwear, Mae West, Bo Derek of "10" fame; Joan Collins over the decades; a young Heather Locklear, and so many more. Jayne Mansfield. I think part of the reason her thread isn't around much is because she lives in Connecticut, she never seems to party and she has better things to do with her time than attend the opening of every envelope in NY.

I love Meryl Streep. I like the fact that she doesn't seem to take herself to seriously. I've never seen photos of her daughters, but they are very pretty.
