Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that biography written by a family friend or am I thinking of something else?

As far as Meryl goes I couldn't see anyone else in the Out of Africa role. I have the book and I am still trying to get to the part that remotely resembles anything in the movie.

I have a friend who went to Hotchkiss with Henry (Meryl's son). She met Meryl several times and said she was delightful, intelligent, down-to-earth and very caring mother. I think she is a classy, spirited lady.

Georgianna - "Kate Remembered" was indeed written by a family friend, but that's not the bio I read (Anne Edwards' take wasn't overly glossy by any means).

And I don't begrudge you Kafka if you've had encounters with "those types" of NY women. And if we started a thread on both the Hepburns (who I always thought were related when I was young and stupid,) it would definitely outpull the K-Fed thread.

Okay, so Meryl is perfectly classy and awesome...but is there anyone in Hollywood who hates her or has beef for some reason? Actors are crazy irrational, so I feel like there has to be. I heard that she stabbed Debra Winger in the back to get half her parts. And threw the can of coke in that PA's face after slapping him.

I totally want to know Meryl's asking price as well - anyone have an IMDB Pro subscription? I bet they'd have it. Or subscribers to Variety or HR would have access to stories with her latest fees.

I know IMDB has her listed for a ton of stuff, but a lot of that is in pre-pre production stages and may not actually happen. They're not always accurate either - they claim Flora Plum is currently filming with Ewan...and nope, don't think so.

I dunno about Meryl being asexual...To me, she always seemed to be giggly and prim on the outside, trying hard to keep fluttering desires from bubbling up to the surface. Kinda like Diane Keaton. Although with DK, I got the feeling she'd be a bit hapless and not "involved" during physical interactions, iykwim.

Huntergrayson, as a fellow Hepburn fan I highly recommend the one by Barbara Leaming. I've read a few books on Hepburn including her autobiography and I love that one. I'll have to pick up the Berg book.

I thought she was great in Postcards, although I admit she's a bit too cerebral for the part. But she was extremely enjoyable in it anyways.

Thank you so much, MrPancake. I loved seeing those photos. She is SO damn cool and I completely adore her for being so un-blasé as to take photos of the Oscar stage. I mean, it's Meryl Streep but she's up there like a schoolgirl fan taking photos. How cool is that?! And gawd, her skin is luminous and amazing. I have such a huge "I am unworthy but let me bow down and kiss your feet" reaction to her.

As for you, MrPancake, you are totally cute and adorable. I swear it on Kafka's life, and I would never --- ever --- say that lightly.
