I am surprised by the split. If the guy could survive the humiliation of CRYING at the Oscars while his wife forgot to thank him in her speech, I thought he could survive anything - multiple Oscars, his wife becoming the next Julia Roberts, whatever.

What, is no-one going to make the "well, this was inevitable because she's so much prettier than him" comment of the ilk that populates (in reverse) the Jennifer Aniston thread?  I didn't think his career was that much in the toilet. I know he blips far smaller on the fame barometer but I thought he did some writing for shows like Law and Order, as well as the occasional acting gig? Sure, no Oscar but not unemployed either. |

I am really shocked as well. I guess it was probably the pressure that one was way more famous and successful than the other. No matter how good a marriage is - that can take it's toll after a while.

Heh. In my opinion, he is prettier than she is. So... maybe he got tired of carrying her purse around? (He seems like that guy to me - maybe it is the weeping coupled with his sensitive portrayal of Jesse, the guy with HIV, on Life Goes On, but there you have it.)

Hm, it was quite a surprise to me since they just bought a new pad just a little while ago.
As to why Hilary Swank is not in the tabs according to Paris Hilton it's because she is ugly and Lindsay Lohan concurred. Apparently, all three were shopping at a well known boutique and paps were pushing all over themselves trying to get pics of Paris and Lindsay and completely ignoring Hilary Swank who was right there. When asked by one reporter what Paris thought about it that's what she said. Stupid girl.
Anyway inspite of her 2 Oscars, people will probably find it hard to recognize Hilary on the streets. And there is just no interest in her when it comes to the tabs. It also probably helps that she lives in New York where celebs are not treated like they are in LA.

God, Paris is an idiot. Paris should have answered, "It must be because I pimp myself out as a product to the public because I have no actual talent that would land me in the spotlight. Want to see my cha-cha? Again?"
I also think Hilary is pretty - just in a more unconvential way. A bit masculine, but pretty all the same. Paris looks like a hag.

I'm not surprised by this one. Hilary was always gushing about Chad, which made me simultaneously think, "Aw, how sweet" and "But she's probably overcompensating for something."
Although I'm probably alone in thinking it has nothing to do with their careers. I always believed Chad when he said he was comfortable living in Hilary's shadow. He's had to live in Rob's shadow for years, so he's used to it. I suspect this is more about regular couple problems.
