To me, when celebs forget to thank their spouse, it's a bad sign. Reminds me of the time, Aniston forgot to thank Pitt when she won her Emmy.

This makes me sad. Normally when celebs split, I'm all about the gossip and wondering why. This one just makes me sad. Is it too much to hope that they'll work it out?

I don't get the gay thing off of him. He's just exceedingly pretty, like his brother. It's too bad, they were cute as a couple. I can imagine he wants her to stop working and have a baby, and she probably has several roles lined up. Just a thought. He's at that age when he's past ready to start a family.

I like them both but I've expected a split for years. I'm surprised it took this long. I just think it's too hard for a hollywood marriage to survive very different career trajectories unless one spouse willingly puts their aspirations on hold. Very good point. I guess I just figured that because it hadn't happened yet it wasn't ever going to happen and Chad was okay with everything. I think it is tough for any couple when one has a very successful career and the other is only doing "okay" in their field - and it must be twice as hard when both people are in the same highly competitive field. I guess he did finally get tired of staring at Hilary's two Oscars sitting on the shelf and the probably endless stream of scripts she gets, while he eeks out a guest spot on Medium. I guess I always liked them because they seemed so low-key. Even though Hilary is a two-time Oscar winner, she isn't in the tabloids every other day. She seems one of the rare actresses her age who seems more concerned about being an "actress" than being a "celebrity." Plus, I admit that I find Hilary kind of dorky and I find that very endearing. Also she knits and I knit - we're both knitting dorks. I agree with this assessment 100%, Hilary has always struck me as one of the more well-adjusted celebrities. Or rather, to the degree that she is a freak, she's just naturally that way and would be regardless of her level of fame. Note that I'm not necessarily saying "freak" in a bad way. I was sad to hear the news. I wonder if she'll rebound with someone totally crazy.

I was surprised to see the news about the split. They made a cute couple.

Paris is still an idiot, but she does have a slight point in the fact that Hilary didn't even have a post on this board in over 8.5 months until she got a divorce from her husband despite the fact that she is a great actress with two oscars. (those two combined will never match that if they lived to be a million years old) And I expect there will not be another post about her that doesn't have to do with the divorce until she wins another Oscar. Let's face it, she is a great actress, but has no real heat when it comes to excitement/controversy in real life. Which may not be such a bad thing for someone who takes her career seriously.

I think you are exactly right that it is a good thing for someone like Hilary. The primary difference between Paris and Hilary is that the product Paris produces for public consumption is Paris Hilton. Flashing her cooch and peeing in limos are just part of her MO to stay in the public eye while anyone else would die of embarassment if that happened to them.
The primary product Hilary puts out for public consumption is her performance as an actress. She doesn't need to be photographed every three seconds or pee in a limo to get attention. She just does good work and sometimes they give her an award for it.
I've always felt that if I were famous I wouldn't want a popular thread on boards like these. You'll notice the largest threads aren't exactly filled with love.

Yep, you guessed it: she and Chad are splitsville. This one sort of surprises me. eta link Dammit! I totally meant to put them in the Divorce Pool. After my Christina Applegate/Jonathan Schplraphbarg (whatever) call, I really felt that this would be the next one. From now on, I am posting at the first thought! I mean...How sad; they seemed so happy.

I just read over on TVGuide.com that Hilary and Chad had gone through a "prolonged trial separation" during their marriage (they didn't mention if it was recent or earlier).
I had no idea. Hadn't heard a peep about that. Just more evidence for the Hilary=actress, Paris=famewhore arguement.
