I also recently watched The Kid Stays in the Picture, which is all about Robert Evans. Despite the fact that she left Robert for Steve, he didn't sound bitter at all.
Maybe because they have a child together? I saw 'The Kid Stays in the Picture' too and I got the impression he still really cares for her.
