She's now doing Broadway. As it turns out, this is her first acting gig in a long, long, long time. I know she's never been considered a great actress, but she seems humble and charming. And she's aged very, very well. Discuss.

I have a deep love for Ali McGraw. I think she's one of the great beauties of the world, and I would give anything to look as great as she does when I'm NEARLY SEVENTY! True, she's not an astoundingly great actress, but she gets a pass from me.

I've always mixed her up with Katherine Ross. Both peaked in the 70's, both with the huge staring brown eyes, the perfect long dark hair...
A few months ago a friend and I watched Love Story on t.v. with our sole motivation being to make fun of it. Well, we ended up, to our shame, sniffling and finally flat-out crying by the end. Damn, that's a movie that shamelessly pushes your buttons...

Damn. When I saw her name at the top I thought she was dead. I always thought she was fug. I find it hard to believe that she was ever the Chanel No 5 spokesperson. Catherine Denueve I could understand but not mouseyactress terrible Ali.

Worst actress ever, and totally overrated looks and fashion wise. My dad hates her SO much, and he barely knows the names of any celebs. She ruined his fave Steve McQueen movie.

Yes! I watched Love Story a few years ago thinking that I would hate everything about it (I still can't stand the line Swanflake quoted) but I really ended up falling for the film and the relationship between Jenny and Oliver. So manipulative but so good! I can't even bring myself to hate myself for loving the film.
I always got the impression that she was in the right place at the right time and a lot of her career happened because the right people (or maybe just Robert Evans) pushed for her. Once that phase of her life ended, her career never really recovered.

After they married, he insisted that she quit acting. That's why her career derailed. From what I've read, McQueen was physically abusive to her. She returned to acting after she divorced him, but it was never the same. Today, she freely admits that she wasn't a good actress. |

When I was 16 or 15, I tried to dress like she did in Love Story. The short plaid skirts, boots, stockings and coats were super cute.
