My Jeff Bridges love knows no bounds. I've been drooling and sweating (so attractive!) since about 1972. "Hearts of the West," anyone? "Rancho Deluxe"? mmmmmmm.....
"American Heart" was filmed somewhere around where I work and I'll confess I've spent many a lunchtime stroll looking for the exact apartment house. The movie was on OnDemand for weeks recently and I did a whole lot of freeze-framing so I could improve my stalking. Am I still a stalker if he got away already? Anyway...LOVE. His stable family life only adds to my appreciation. And I don't mind seeing his get older and craggier since I'm on that road myself. Heh.

He and other Stick It cast members are going to be on The View today, Heaven help them. He showed the ladies a photo of himself and his wife (married 28 years) taken when he first met her. He was in Montana on a movie shoot. They met on a dude ranch. He also had a photo of her alone and one of Jeff and his mother. It wasn't creepy at all. Very sweet. Not staged like CTC, either!

He was good as the president in The Contender with Joan Allen. I think he got an Oscar nod for that one. He also sang the opening theme song, a cover of "Ring of Fire," with Kim Wilde. I also liked how he played this swaggering, rule-by-personality president but gets rebuffed by Joan Allen's preternaturally grown-up little son. That movie as a whole was very underrated, I thought. Gary Oldman as the stuffy, traditional speaker of the house was wonderfully loathsome. I've seen both versions of The Vanishing and I actually thought Jeff Bridges did a better job the villain. The theme of "I wanted to know if I could do something evil" was communicated much more effectively. The way that he preyed on Sandra Bullock and then calmly jusitifed doing so came across much better. He's a much more beefy and menacing actor than the Dutch guy in the original version.

Against all Odds. Love him, love James Woods, not so much the chick, but the theme song ROCKS.

Which version did you see first? I saw the Dutch version without knowing anything about either film and was so freaked out by the whole thing. I thought one of the strengths of the original was that the bad guy wasn't an obvious bad guy. He was messed up in the head but not menacing or threatening. In a way, that made the situation even more frightening. I saw the remake a few months later and was horrified by how obvious everything was (not to mention the Hollywood ending!).
I love Jeff Bridges. He is one of those great, reliable actors who has been doing stellar work for ages now. His turn in Door in the Floor was amazing. If only the film had been as good as his performance.
Of course, The Dude is one of the greatest performances... ever! The world would be a poorer place without that surprised/lustful look that appears on his face during the "Gutterballs" sequence.

He's just wonderful.
I think I like him a lot, mostly because he's not very "actorly", if that makes sense. For some actors, you can tell they're trying really hard to act. Bridges is, thankfully, not one of 'em.

Just saw him on "Martha" today. He's a little eccentric eh? Who'd a thunk it.

You know, it must really suck to be Beau Bridges. Just like it sucks to be Randy Quaid. All the sexy went to one brother. They look remarkably similar to me. Beau is just a lot heavier. And apparently has an aversion to trimming his big brows.

I him. And he's getting Oscar buzz for Crazy Heart with Maggie Gyllenhaal.
