He's one of Hollywood's mst endangered species-a Hollywood kid who's not only had a great career for several decades, he's been apparently happily married to the same woman for 30 years. He's played roles that are funny ( The Big Lebowski), tragic ( American Heart), charming ( The Great American Success Company), quirky ( Starman) and sexy ( Against All Odds and The Fabulous Baker Boys) and he manages to be awesome in every last one of them, no matter how crappy the movie seems ( Stick It)-and no, he's not dead! Starman is my all-time favorite sci-fi film.
Plus he can do no wrong as the Dude in The Big Lebowski.

I'll always love him for The Dude. And my boyfriend held out hope for years that there was going to be a sequel to Star Man. Apparently the ending is wide open, but nothing ever happened. I suppose the time has passed for them to do anything about it.
I couldn't handle him in The Fabulous Baker Boys. I could never get why Michelle Pfeiffer was attracted to him because he was so bitter and belligerant. Plus, wasn't there a scene where he beat up his own brother, and smashed the brother's fingers -- and the brother was a pianist??
Anyhow, I will forget that and simply remember him as The Dude!

You know, it must really suck to be Beau Bridges. Just like it sucks to be Randy Quaid. All the sexy went to one brother.

It especially sucks when you're named Beau.
That said, I don't think Beau's bad looking at all. He's kinda hot on Stargate these days actually. Must be the uniform. The attractiveness gulf between Beau and Jeff is a lot shallower than the gulf between Randy and Dennis.

Bonsai, there was a TV series made based on what happened years after the film. Jenny was pregnant at the end of the film, and the TV series was made when the kid was supposedly a teenager. It starred Robert Hays as the alien. And I think Jeff's dad, Lloyd Bridges, was far hotter in his day.
