Gah, tough to imagine he's married to Connie Chung-talk about two opposite ends of journalism.

Sex and Maury Povich -- I didn't need that mental image.

I hate Maury Povich. His show used to be midly interesting and now all he does is bring on messed-up teenaged girls and make them cry over who their baby's father is. I am sick to death of him and his stupid, maniupulative act where he cheerfully says to the girls, "This is your ex-boyfriend, let's hear what he has to say!" and the guy comes on the screen and yells, "This isn't my [beep] baby you [beep]! Go find your real babydaddy you stupid [beep]!" And then Maury reads the test results and there's more of the same.
He sucks.

His shows gave us Eric Cartman's spiels about his "hot body". As vile as Maury is, I gotta love him for that.

What bugs me about Maury is that, as a jornalist and talk show host, he knows better and has done better than the crap he produces now. He's the son of a Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper columnist. He was a local news anchor for years in Washington, DC. He hosted a DC current events talk show; topics were stuff like local governement corruption, taxes, school funding, and saluting local heroes, not a babydaddy in sight. When he married Connie Chung, she was more famous nationally but no one thought she was slumming. He has since totally debased his standards to make quick bucks. Sickening.
BTW, one of my teachers in high school was married to his cousin. She said that Connie was a darling but that Maury was stand-offish and looked down on the rest of the family. I wonder if he feels better than anybody now.

His show USED to be better-he used to try and help people. But then he just started going all Springer and it sucked.

I always knew he was a freak. I agree. Just a vibe or perhaps the weird way he wore his sweaters and leaned in a bit too close to his guests. :::hackles raised:::

His show USED to be better-he used to try and help people. But then he just started going all Springer and it sucked. His show has been on since, like, 1991 or something, but somewhere around '97 or '98 he suddenly started airing these promos about the NEW Maury Show, and I remember some cheesy line like "There's gonna be some changes around here!". Then for a few years after that he would specifically say things like "Now the new Maury Show has only been on for a couple of years now" and I never understood why he was ignoring the first 6-7 years of his show. He never does any update shows or retrospective shows with stuff from those years, except once he did bring back a girl who was on the show in the early years to talk about being an HIV positive child. Does anyone know the story behind that? This producer woman that's accusing him, I hope she goes on Montel to tell her story.
