It seems like he is the only one getting good reviews (with Ian McKellen) for the Da Vinci Code. That's good. I like him.

Okay, now I can't find the article (maybe someone can help me out) but -
I just read something from Bettany where he was talking about his crappy childhood. Like how he had a "posh" accent but his family didn't have a lot of money, so he felt like he didn't really fit in anywhere and the kids always picked on him. And even worse - that is father (who must be crazy) was just hellish and at some point decided Paul was gay and would tell him that he was going to sign him up for a sex change operation.
I'll keep looking for the article, but sheesh. No wonder the guy developed a drug problem. I'm really surprised he's as well-balanced as he is.

Hmmm...Paul's father decided he was gay after divorcing Paul's mother and either had or is in the process of having a sex change.

You know - that could be it. I read the article briefly (yesterday, I think) and of course, I can't find it now. It could very well be that I misread and thought that they were talking about Paul and not his father.

.
It breaks my heart that someone so obviously talented, funny and unique as Paul Bettany would have such f*cktards for relatives. Everything should be rainbow sprinkles and sex-a-thons for him.

I think his younger brother died in an accident when Paul was fourteen or sixteen, and that was such a shock to the whole family, that from then on, they sort of fell apart. Paul has never talked a lot about it, but I read once that he said the death of his brother was a "daily heartbreak".

Well, on a lighter note, he totally rocked in The Da Vinci Code. Those saying he's the best part of the movie aren't wrong IMO. I, uh, am finding my crush intensifying now.

I don't remember too much about the Da Vinci Code (I may have, uh, fallen asleep a couple of times) but I do remember thinking the albino monk was a hottie. After reading the thread I love him even more, he seems like such a genuine person.

Seriously everyone needs to read jdkwfan4ever's link, that is the funniest thing I have seen in awhile. Has he ever done standup or written anything humor-related?

Uh-huh. I like him but I really appreciate eyebrows in a man. He has eyebrows-they're blonde, but he has them. He also has them in The Heart of Me and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. BTW, his 35th birthday's on Saturday.
