That's refreshing, having a 68 year-old as a spokeperson for a make-up line. I kinda like Jane, I feel like I should't do to the whole "Hanoi Jane " fiasco, but I do.

She absorbs and reflects the opinions and attitudes of whatever man she is associated with at the time. Sexpot with Roger Vadim, Anti-war activist with Donald Sutherland, Corporate wife with Ted Turner. I remember seeing her on TV at one of the Braves games with Turner and they were both doing the "Tomahawk Chop" gesture - this at a time when Native Americans were protesting the use of such Native American symbols during sporting events. But by then she had morphed from the activist to the corporate wife. I don't see a personality, I see a mirror. Is there a Jane somewhere inside? Maybe.

Slightly older article, but still reeking with her standard hypocrisy. She turns herself into Ivana Trump for Ted Turner but women should just say no to cosmetic surgery? STFU and go find a new guy so you can assume a new persona, you freaking shape shifter. This is what I love about the British press - they don't let anyone get away with anything. She was a good actress back in the day.

So Redford's startled robot (tm someone at FT) face is natural? Riiiiight.

In Redford's defense, his wrinkles had pretty much started to eat his eyes before the surgery. Yes, he still looks awful, but that's what 100 years in the sun does to a person.

My aunt had "cosmetic" surgery on her eyelids because they were drooping so severely she was having trouble seeing. (Both she and my mother inherited my grandfather's deep-set Slavic eyes, with heavy eyelids).
I dunno, I feel bad for Jane, but she strikes me as a pretty empty person. No real substance.

I think she is well intentioned, but she doesn't really seem to go about things the right way.

Oh, I like her. She had a horrible childhood - her mother slit her own throat with a razor, and Jane had to read about it in a magazine because no one told her. Henry (who I LOVE as an actor) was just cold, and jumped from new wife to new wife.
Sure, no excuse for her lack of judgement. But she has apologized many times for that Vietnam incident, and she truly tries to do good things. Why else would she hang around Georgia working with teen pregnancy issues (not that there's anything wrong with Georgia)? Now she's apparently become very religious... I guess just another thing she's searching for.
Anyway, I loved her book. I thought it was very honest and poignant.

She hasn't apologized for the Vietnam incident, which is the problem. She made excuse after excuse, most of them b.s. ("I didn't realize the photographers were there.") If she had come out and said, "I'm really sorry for the awful things I did and said about POWs. I sincerely regret it, there's no excuse and I'm sorry for the pain I caused them and their families." And then maybe met with a group of veterans and given a large donation to a VA hospital she would've ended it long ago.

I have seen her say that she was sorry ... made a terrible judgement call. What could she have been thinking, etc. (in those words).
I also have seen her talk about visiting veterans - for many many years. I don't know if anything she says is true - but then I don't know if it's a lie either.
