So he'll "have the Cream of Sum Yung Gui"? (too obscure?) Heheheheheh. Not for me. Wayne's World is one of my most favoritest comedies. Zang! Personally, I read that as Mike Myers knowing his own limitations and sticking within them, which is something I respect on general principle. (I'm also one of four people on earth who wasn't crazy about Carrey in Eternal Sunshine -- I thought Frodo and Dr. Sunken Tits were more compelling -- proof that you can't always explain why something hits you the way it hits you!) Anyway, having said all that, I can definitely see where others are getting the "barely contained crazy/asshole" vibe from MM... like I said, I loved Wayne's World, but there are other comedy bits he's done that I find kind of... narcissistic? I can't really explain it but it wouldn't surprise me if he had shades of Peter Sellers going on. And also, can he give the Scottish thing a rest already?? It's crap!

I'd like it even more if he gave Austin Powers a rest. I mean, really.

There wasn't much chemistry with Wayne & Cassendra but I always chalked that up to the fact that he was pudgy and she looked more like a Fredricks of Hollywood model levels of miscasting. Or maybe he really was just gay and not great at acting otherwise. I always liked that skit he did on SNL with Nicole Kidman where he was a HyperHypo and they harnessed him to the jungle gym.

"When I eat sugar I become a menace to myself and others!" My favorite was Simon, the little English kid in the bathtub. Bum-lookers!

Re Robin: I knew Robin way back when, and met Mike a few times. If they were in a true beard relationship, then they both deserve Oscars. I have rarely seen any couple so happy and compatible. Regarding the comments about Robin being "plain": Again, way back when, she was so not plain. She had a dramatic look: slim but curvy; beautiful long, black curly hair; and pretty blue eyes. Yes, she looks different now, but not drastically different. IMVHO, I think years of living with Mike would prematurely age anyone. He seems like the highest of high maintenance. And yes, for the love of Jeebus: Give a rest to Austin Powers and the idea that Scottish accents make anything funny.

And yes, for the love of Jeebus: Give a rest to Austin Powers and the idea that Scottish accents make anything funny. Thank you - I thought I was going nuts there with the references to "plain" when I could only remember seeing MM in pictures with a rather striking woman with dark hair and blue eyes, so I am remembering Robin correctly. I don't know if I believe the rumors or not. I just think he has issues out the wazoo and that alone could have been the reason for the end of his marriage. I remember reading that with the first Shrek movie he had recorded all the dialogue then decided that he wanted to change Shrek's voice, so they went back and completely redid a crap load of work because he was having a hissy fit about it. That to me says he is a total control freak with probably more than his fair share of problems. As for Mike's "funny" - I think the well is dry. He was funny once back in the 90s, but he's been recycling that material ever since without coming up with something new. Shrek is Fat Bastard who is the dad from So I Married an Axe Murderer who was in a recurring sketch on SNL. And Austin Powers gets worse with each movie. I liked the first Austin Powers movie, the first Wayne's World movie, and SIMAAM is a guilty pleasure of mine, but he really hasn't done it for me since.

I don't mind him one way or another but is it just me or does he tell the same stories over and over again in interviews? I think I've heard the story about his mother dressing him up as "sea sickness" for Halloween a thousand time. That said, I'm probably in the minority that think the Dieter movie would've been funny.

I read the screenplay for the aborted Sprockets movie online a few years ago, and it was *hilarious*. And smart, with lots of references/allusions to German film, etc. So naturally it got dumped and we got Goldmember instead, because poo jokes always sell.
