I am referring to Daily Fail's insistence that Mary is the heir, not Fred. They seem to think they can will her to be the actual reigning queen, even while Marge is still alive. It is just particularly rude after Henrik's death for them (and some European rags) to insist that Marge step down.

Let's face it though, when Fred and Mary becoming King and Queen, won't Mary be the one doing most of the work? (Such as it is.) |

My dog does more work than Fred. To be fair to Mary, yes. I just personally can't stand her (but I don't think Fred can either). She made her bargain with the devil and chose being rich over being happy, I think. So perhaps she should do the work.
ETA: Oh lord, the Daily Fail are at it Again. The headline reads "Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary take their children to visit the sea of flowers laid in tribute to Denmark's Prince Henrik". See anything wrong with that? I don't mean to be Miss Manners Etiquette of royal titles but give Fred some credit for being accidentally born to a queen. I mean, even the sainted Mary (to the Aussie editors of DF) can't manage to have been immaculately conceived via two Scottish people in Tasmania to actually be the true heir to the Danish throne, right?

I don't follow Mary that much, but I know the people at Royal Dish HATE her with a passion. They don't like Kate Middleton either, but Kate is a saint, a hero, and a unicorn compared to CP Mary.

There used to be some blog devoted to calling Mary bogan trash. Princess Isabella once had a hole in her shoe. That's because her mother is bogan trash who neglects her! The blog had lots of unflattering photos of Mary that happened to catch her when she was scowling.
I get that running a hate blog is a necessity to some people and that the target is rather irrelevant, but it seems like there are far more interesting people to hate-blog about.

I agree. I didn't realize how hate-able Mary was until I started following RD. The hate for Kate/Catherine and Letizia of Spain is pretty intense as well. It is bizarre but an amusing read when I'm at the office.

Well, I'm unjustifiably miffed. I read that article about Henrik demanding not to be buried at Roskilde with Daisy months ago, and I had all kinds of fairly uncharitable thoughts to share about how a very minor and personally rather petty princeling might wish to simply reflect on the good fortune he enjoyed in being married to a spectacularly rich and entertaining Queen (did he have better options? Really?), but I was too lazy busy to search for the appropriate thread, and now I can't speak ill of the dead, so I'm just out of luck!
I don't get the Mary hate, and put it down to envy. Honestly, she reminds me a little of one of my sorority sisters who married a guy she met at a bar. The night they got engaged she came home and told us, "Never let them tell you you can't meet your husband at the bars because you TOTALLY can." He wasn't a prince, but nothing to sneeze at and they are happily married lo these many years later.

It's just going to be The Gorillaz and David Byrne. No Foo Fighters or Arcade Fire. I thought it was pretty funny when he had a public hissy fit about not being King and said peace out, bitches. But apparently, he had dementia and that kind of ruined the funniness. |
